embark anywhere

Do i need a mod to embark anywhere, or is there something i need to edit in the init files?

I've honestly never used it, but there's this really nice thread on the Modding board that details when you do and don't need to regen.

And if push comes to shove, you can always try it and see if DF crashes or not.

All you need to do is run the exe if you find an unembarkable site, don't even bother leaving the choose fortress location screen or closing the program.

I thought that was only because it's mostly used to reach inaccessible areas?

Remember, even under normal circumstances, you can go to a lot of remote areas that others can't get to.  With this, you can get to areas that even you aren't supposed to be able to get to.  If you can't get there, it's unlikely anybody else can.  That problem has nothing to do with the utility, but rather with the fact that you're using it to get to areas that are supposed to be completely and totally inaccessible to everyone.
