Twiglet makes me rage. It surpassed being a bad book that fat teenage girls wearing lots of black and metal go on about on obscure weepy forums where the text and background are black, and started being a cult. An annoying cult.

I finally read the series, and it's... bland. It didn't inspire vast levels of hatery and rage in me, but I guess I'm just open-minded.

Ya, most people rage over the popularity of the book and its fans, rather than about the book itself.

I read the books. I liked the books. Then I watched the infamous Twilight fans. I hate them. I don't hate them for being the way they are, but rather I hate them because, because of their actions, the books can never be good. The books will always be bad books, even if I did like them, because of the way they inspired people to act. Just like communism will always be bad, even though it was actually a good idea on paper, because of how the Soviets went about it. Ultimately, it is not how good something is, but rather how it is received, that determines how it will be viewed by those people intelligent enough to step back and really take a good look at what is going on. Sadly, human stupidity is often the deciding factor in whether something is good or bad. The Twilight books are no exception. And now the verdict is out. The Twilight books are bad, even though I could come up with counter arguments for most of the things ripping on the actual books said in this forum, and in all of the other forums.

I actually have plenty of friends who love the series, and I don't think anyone here is gonna rip you about liking it.

I just didn't enjoy reading it, though. Wasn't my particular thing, I guess. :D

I hate Halo, I don't think I ever ripped into anyone for liking it.

This isn't iCarly BKWM, we don't harass you for going against the grain.

I never read the book, but I did get a general rundown of these vampires.

My question now is: Why haven't they enslaved humanity? They wouldn't have to hide, they wouldn't have to do much work and food would be plentiful due to human ranching.

The worst thing the book inspired? A ton of crappy vampire love stories, movies and media.

Probably one of the last good series to have vampires in it was Buffy the Vampire Slayer (at least of those I've seen).  It was a Whedon, though, so it was almost by definition good ;D

Sometimes I think Joss Whedon should rewrite Star Wars I-III, ignoring all the things about the series established in the George Lucas versions.

Alternately: The Brick Testament. It's a really fun look at what the bible would look like if interpreted literally. With Legos.

One thing that confuses me about twilight is just how much HATE the series brings up. I mean I REALLY don't like the movies or books, but it's not like they're gonna have a lasting effect as some people think. It's just a fad.

Im not really hating it. I don't really care about it much. I only get exposure to it through my girlfriend, while she is a fangirl, she is not a rabid one. I found the first movie hilarious but with a retarded main character and the second a bit dull and way to suicidally emo.

I'm mostly worried about the occasional reports of fans of it freaking out over small comments like "eh, I didn't really like how it portrayed vampires."

Someone here linked to a list of them awhile back . . .

Apparently there was some thing where people got like 30 seconds to meet Robert Pattinson, and this girl asked him what she could do to get his attention.

He said, not being serious, "I dunno, take off your clothes"

She did.  Security had to drag her off.

I don't hate twilight or those who like it.

I just find a lot of its premises and characterisations to be hillarious or often hillariously bad, or shall we forget the vampire who was black and white AT THE SAME TIME!

At the same time though I hate Halo but I don't think any less of those who like it either.

I really dislike some of the blatant stupidity in the novel but I accept that I wouldn't know nor care about it if there weren't so many fans who did stupid things garnering it attention.

So there's a movie coming out with a new take on wampires.  Apparently it's like the future, and almost everyone is a vampire.  The last few humans are farmed for blood, but they're running out and have to make a substitute or everyone will go batty (hurr) and start killing each other for blood.  The humans are fighting or something, or maybe helping the vampires.  It's hard to tell, because the vampires look just like people except with fangs.
