Having fun with the family around. Had fun riffing some of the performances in the Thanksgiving Parade. Eating like no tomorrow.

I love this holiday.

We, the dwellers of the frosty north had thanksgiving a month ago.

Why do we have two different thanksgiving days?

Canadian Thanksgiving comes earlier than American Thanksgiving because the frigid winters come earlier.

Or so I've heard.

Goddamnit! Everything ruined because I didn't bring my inhaler!

For those wondering, I went to my aunt's house on Turkey Day's eve, and then when I tried to sleep over, I couldn't sleep because every time I tried to lay down, my asthma would just inexplicably act up and I was suffocated into staying away.

SO I stay up all night, then go home the next morning, get my medication, but then pass out on my bed, thinking that I'd wake up in just a bit... but I slept so long that now all the festivities are over.

The actual turkey was alright. I could handle it.

But desert was... interesting. Let me tell you that three types of pies, two cakes and some ice cream don't sit well with a person. And my cousins thought I looked like a Nazi with my new hat. Somehow. And my Latin relatives thought I looked like Che Guevara.

... What is with this hat?

The hat isn't anything particularly special anyway. It's basically the same hat ThatGuyWithTheGlasses wears. I suppose it's more poking at my facial hair, but even this doesn't seem terribly outlandish.

I suppose my Latin relatives are just odd like that.

I think it's a sorry sign that so many of us are free to post stuff online instead of doing anything else, like spending time with family.  Not that I want to or anything, but I'm a stickler for decorum.

Besides, I see enough of my relatives as is, and spent plenty of time with my family worth talking to today, reminiscing about old times and learning about new old times I didn't know.

And getting completely lit on cheap wine and pot with my father and cousins.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Did that for 12 hours - plus I already live with mom and sis, so there. :p

Sofia:  hehe.  That's fine, but no complaining about your misery the day after. ;)

Same here Eidalac. But my entire known family consists of me, my sister, my mom, and my brother. So we had dinner with my brother's girlfriend's family. It's uncomfortable being stared at by an old woman and a little girl while I eat. :(

As usual, ate more than my fill. At least 2 full plates-worth (and these are rather large plates). Now I'm ready to hibernate for the Winter.

Nieces and nephew were a handful, as usual. Hung out with the rest of the family. And overall, it was a pretty fun day.

After the feast, The wine was good. Felt like the return of an old friend. Got a good buzz since some time of sobriety (most the year, in fact). Oh, alcohol, how I did miss ye. Oddly enough, I'm not usually tired after all the work, eating, more eating, and dealing with the kids. Surprisingly, the wine did me in. I might turn in early for once.
