As both machine's resources come to an end, RAM and Arbiter concentrate on manuevering, waiting for a clear shot. RAM suddenly accelerates! Arbiter's aim is thrown off, but his Scorcher scores a glancing hit across RAM's cockpit, that has GOT to hurt! Arbiter's mech deploys reflectors, expecting a response in kind, but RAM launches a pack of Revengers instead! RRRREVENGE! Arbiter desperately tries to evade! Two, four, five missiles missed! The last one weaves erratically, and BAM! Arbiter's mech has lost a leg to a direct hit into the joint! This fight is over ladies and gentlemen, Arbiter gets out of his crippled machine and we congratulate our second semi-finalist, RAM!
RAM: Hit for 2, 2 remain.
Arbiter: Hit for 1, 0 remain.

Conglaturations, and waiting for your PM, RAM.

You can always load a second inbetween fights, if you survive of course.

Sorry for disappearing, had business elsewhere.

The battle is approaching a grand finale in the second arena, where PrinnyBaal and Cluster have all but exhausted each other's strength. Both competitors accelerate simultaneously, opening fire with their weapon of choice! Cluster's Scorcher shot almost misses, but still takes out a large portion of PrinnyBaal's mech, sending it tumbling to the ground! Cluster stops his machine and looks around, expecting an attack to strike him. But PrinnyBaal's Pulverizer torpedo harmlessly explodes against the far sidewall. Emergency medical team requested at sector 17, front row. Note to spectators - you were advised against purchasing front row seats for precisely this reason. Back on the arena, PrinnyBaal climbs out of his mech and throws his helmet to the ground in frustration. The fight for him is over, and we congratulate our third semi-finalist, CLUSTER!
PrinnyBaal: Hit for 3, -1 remaining.
Cluster: Hit for 0, 2 remaining.

Oh well, I didn't expect all four players to get to the semifinal anyway. Enjoy the fight from the sidelines, PrinnyBaal, and don't sit in the front rows! ;)

The last match of the first bout continues, Kashyyk and Ajax circle around the arena and exchange powerful blows! Letting his Revengers fly, Kashyyk enables the Achilles's reflectors and easily withstands Ajax's laser blast, but Ajax just as easily clears the missiles out of the sky with point defence fire! With both opponents still in good fighting shape, this match may well become the longest in RPS Tournament history!
Kashyyk: Not hit, 4 remaining.
Ajax: Not hit, 8 remaining.

Muhaha, Team Cluster has made a last min pilot change.  8)

And since we don't seem to have many players, perhaps I might suggest a Round Robin type tournament for next time. So that the players get a chance to at least have some more fun, before they are eliminated. You'd have to add say a 50% auto repair on destruction.

Haika, it's considered bad tact to announce game changes before the GM does. ;)

And I'm not sure what Round Robin is, but having the losers fight their own rounds was in the initial plan. RPG mode description doesn't cover it, but mechs undergo express autorepair up to 0HP and players have to restore armor themselves. Thus a new mech will cost you 20 creds in RPG mode.

Currently, the losing rounds will only happen if PrinnyBaal decides it would be worth it - commenting NPC battles is less fun than I consider adequate.

Pfft, ok ok. No more fun announcements, was a little overeager.

Round Robin is a tournament style that pits all entries against each other once. Sort of what professional teams do here in the states. The winning teams are based on how many wins they have at the end.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
This is an example of a rather large Round Robin grid, the participants are labeled both along the rows and the collums, with the instances they play themselves crossed off. Matches are done until all the other spots on the grid are filled with win or lose type thing.

So say if you have 5 people in the tournament, each person will have at least 4 battles, sans tie breakers at the end if people have the same score.

Ah, that. No, no Round Robin with NPCs involved - because, as mentioned, NPC-vs-NPC battles are no fun. Also, you'd need a ludicrous loadout to survive them all in any tourney larger than 5 contestants.

But since we now have two definite losers in the poll - Mafia and Insta-kill modes - I might replace them with new ones. Round Robin, and CPU League. CPU League (Console Players United) reverts to basic RPS, with "only three control buttons" - "R" launches missiles and enables shields, "P" launches a torpedo and enables defences, "S" fires lasers and executes an evasive manuever. If both choose R, laser-pointers don't work on shields. If both choose P, the torpedoes get shot down. If both choose "S", auto-aim can't follow the manuever.

Sorry, I can only get on occasionally.

So:

Pulveriser with Shield
then the revengers with point defence please!

That was unnecessary. Because I choose the NPC attacks. So I'll have to make it random next round.
