My tax collector is demanding that pig iron items be made....so...what the heck can I make out of pig iron that will satisfy him? There's nothing in the metalsmith's forge that can be made with it, I'm stumped....

You have to make pig iron bars. It's the only thing that can be made out of pig iron, and it satisfies the mandate.

It's only considered a stone for the purpose of building workshops and constructions - you can't make anything out of it.

Also, mandates never specify both the item type and the material, only one or the other (and never more than 3 at a time). Demands can be more specific, but you can safely ignore them.
