Hm. Do elf merchants path through single doorways?

Christ, are you dwarves or are you elves? If you think Hell has too many demons, then you kill them till the population reaches an acceptable number.

Yes. My first successful fort had a secondary trade depot on the other side of a slightly more effective defensive setup, so I tried to send the elves there by shutting the wall of floodgates in the entrance to my main depot [I hadn't worked out atomsmashers yet]. They proceeded to saunter through the entire fort, since I hadn't clicked with the importance of minimising ways in or out either.

So, how is your science going? Does dropping rocks on people through the use of pressure plates and bridges work just like a stone trap, except way more cool because you did it manually?

Actually, it's by pulling a lever, and I have yet to find a decent target to use it on. But I don't think it'll do as much damage as a stone trap; I suspect those things are spring-loaded.

Nah, that's been tested.  Items don't do damage when falling; the word 'fall' in 'stonefall trap' is purely for flavor.  The stone in the trap doesn't change z-levels.

I'm sure this'll change eventually, though.

And this is how tinned food was invented.
Alternately: The Brick Testament. It's a really fun look at what the bible would look like if interpreted literally. With Legos.
Just so I remember

Thanks. I'm probably just going to build a forest of stakes in the gap and use it as a captive killer, then.
