A question about HFS [Spoilers]
« on: November 23, 2009, 01:52:38 am »

Some of the engravings in my catacombs have been of demons burning various creatures to death. Does this mean that when I open the pits I'll get regular demons, or will I get a different type my engravers have neglected telling me about?

I do not believe there is a connection between the engravings you get (pre-breaching, of course) and the type of clowns you have.

The engravings you got are just historical events, probably from some Goblin battle (their civilizations are frequently ruled by Demons) - turn on "SHOW_ALL_HISTORY_IN_DWARF_MODE" in init.txt and you'll be able to see more details about the event.

You won't know what type of HFS you have until you discover them (and if you examine the pits closely, you'll be able to determine not only what kind you'll get but also how many there'll be).

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

Is that done by looking at the engravings, or just the size of the funhouse?

The type of clowns is based on the physical characteristics of the funhouse (coal + ashes == !!clowns!!, and the others should be very obvious when you see them), and the number of clowns is based on the size of the funhouse (exactly 10 clowns per floor, not including the bottom floor where the ringmaster resides).

I got only the ringmaster from a 5-level funhouse? Two miners wrestled him to death.

The other clowns are scared of your miners, and are invisible. Eventually they'll work up the courage and attack you.

What's in your pits, by the way? I'm curious if you've got !!happyhappyjoyjoy!!
