I 210% Fullheartedly agree.

(Edit: In fact, I feel Community Fortresses, Succession Fortresses, Fan Fiction, and anything else of that nature should all be bundled there.)

It would be very helpful for those topics that end up two or three pages back by the time everyone is ready to post their updates.

I agree completely.

As a matter of fact I got snapped at for posting the same http://www.bay12games.com/cgi-local/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=5&t=002983

by someone evidently in my own shoes.

I'm not snapping, or taking credit, just setting an example.

Idea thirded (or is it three-hundred and thirded)

I think we need some "forum leaders" aka Moderators to manage what is now a VERY active forum.

I agree that the forum needs some dedicated administrators.  This would have the double benefit of making the forums more user friendly and freeing up Toady to spend more time on development.

There's about five threads asking for this to be done so maybe this request needs its own subforum too?   :p

But yeah, it wouldn't hurt to do it I guess.

YES PLEASE.

Though I don't think some of those examples used in Kogan's post which are really discussion questions with a thin veil of roleplay should be moved there. a humorous anecdote with an actual purpose is quite different from lengthy fanfiction.

While were at it, I don't understand why we have a DF :Dwarf Mode Discussion, a DF:General Discussion, a DF:Adventure Mode Discussion, AND a Various Nonesense discussion.

The General Discussion seems in excess, when we have forums to cover all of the modes of the game. In particular, General Discussoin and Dwarf Mode Discussion seem to have a ton in common with one another.

It would be nice to see General Discussion removed, especially if we are adding a fan fiction subforum.

Maybe add a sub-forum to both Dwarf Mode and Adventure Mode forums?

This way, it'll keep the stories separate from the gameplay discussions and make the board generally easier to navigate.

Also, I completely agree with the idea that we need to have some dedicated moderators on the board now. The forums are becoming very busy and will only grow even more. There is now a greater need for control than there has been up until now.

Various nonsense is for things that don't have anything to do with Bay 12 Games, much less DF.  Things like the DF meetup and interview discussions or asking for guitar tab and so on have fit fine in DF General Discussion, so I don't see a reason to remove any of the existing forums.

The board doesn't support subforums so far as I know.

People have occasionally crossed the line, but I haven't seen much of a need to appoint separate moderators at this point.  Everything seems to be going well.  If there are any problem threads, you can email me.

I agree that subforums for community games of all kinds would be a Good Thing.

"General Discussion" contains all kinds of things that are relevant to both Fortress Mode and Adventure Mode... I'd be very unhappy if it vanished.
It also contains all kinds of things that would IMHO be better accommodated in the Fort or Adv forums (or in a new Com.Game forum), so one or two moderators with plenty of spare time would be most welcome, for thread-moving duty.
