Forum Shenanigans
« on: November 22, 2009, 03:09:00 pm »

I was just wondering if anyone else has noticed the forum acting up lately. Pages load slowly, sometimes the whole forum just stops responding, and it's just generally not up to par. I'm hoping it's not on my end, which seems unlikely, as it's -just- this forum... So, have any of you guys and gals been having similar issues?

Same here, I just assumed it was having the forums, df, itunes, and lots of other stuff open slowing down my computer.

(30 seconds and 1 blank screen after hitting reply)

I think the server seems to be getting bogged down. It's a shame, I think it'll need to be closed down for a moment for some maintainence to be done.

I've been noticing this forum getting rather buggy lately. Thank goodness I wasn't the only one to notice it. Just did a major cleanup on my machine, defragged it, and cleaned up the cache and cookies to make sure. Nope, it was the forum.

It's going to need maintainence, it looks like.

Rebundant statement that I too noticed forum slowdown is rebundant.
Anyway, the latest donathon should cover the costs of the maintainance., so we're good there, I guess.

Yep, took me three tries just to load the Reply page.

I seem to recall that when this same thing was happening about a year ago, all it took to fix was Toady badgering his hosting company long enough to reset his server a few times.  But I think that was a different company.

Hrm, interesting. Does anyone know what the proper etiquette for bringing this to Toady's attention would be? A PM, perhaps? I wonder if he's already noticed. Whatever the case, I have a fear of authority figures, so if someone else could do it and I could hide that would be grand.

I went ahead and sent Toady a PM now.  Naturally, the forum crapped out on me while sending it, but it made it at least as far as my Sent box.  He might already be aware, but whatever.
