I'm building a Cube, patterned after the movie of the same name.It consists of a 10x10 grid of crosses, each consisting of a 5-wide, 5-tall cross with a staircase in the center connecting each cell to the ones above and below it, in addition to being connected to the ones to the north, south, east, and west.
Each cube within the cube consists of two layers: the trap, and the shifter. The shifter alters the ability to access different parts of the cube - between each cross is a 1x1 channel with a retracting drawbridge built over it, controlled in a mostly random fashion by the plates. The traps vary with each cube - some are atom smashers connected to the plates I mentioned above, some are quality-less mechanisms with a single copper dagger in them, some are bristling with a half dozen crossbows. Not all cubes are trapped, nor are all of them trapped in all four possible tiles.
In all, the thing is 59 tiles wide and 59 tiles tall, spanning 10 Z-levels. There's somewhere around a thousand mechanisms in use throughout the thing.
I'm considering putting this map up in a while as a 'tourist' map for people to wander around, admire the architecture, and see the sights. Of course, it's more fun if you enable traps in adventure mode...
