Creative Executions?
« on: November 22, 2009, 05:33:18 am »

I've grown tired of death pit/tower setups and of firing squads and locking disarmed goblins in with my champions. I have no infinite-water-source and my water trap, which used to refill when it rained, accidentally, er, drained its whole reservoir last siege. I have no magma and no chasm and I'm in a temperate environment.

What should I do to my captured goblins and such?

1-----2-----------------3-----4

1: Lever controlling cage.
2: Extremely legendary (and fast) Hammerdwarf
3. Caged goblin at the end of a long 'runway'
4. Large, extensive hallway

Pull switch, dwarf runs, try and get as good distance as you can. Make some point markers too, if you like.

I'm kind of bored of just having them straight-up die is the problem. :I

I might try that out. Use my million blocks to create colored point markers.

Any other ideas?

Also, would pouring water down my central super-staircase that goes from Z+0 to Z-15 wash my dorfs down the stairs to their doom?

You only know if you try.

That would be fun too. A waterslide of doom.

1. Put them in a room with weak floorspikes.
2. Poke them a few times.
3. Open the door and let them be beaten up by wandering peasants.

One that I like is the "Whip It Good" solution. Don't remember who posted it, but it's simply a checkerboard pattern of weapon traps, each containing exactly one whip/scourge. Eventually the gobbos die from the goring, pain, and agony. Eventually.

Alternately, there's the classic Saw setup. Release the goblins in a horrifying hallway containing traps galore, occasional floods, Dwarven Atom Smashers smashing things to bits, and horrible beasts on chains or in cages deconstructed by pressure plates. If the goblins get out, they can go free. If not, you will turn their bones into +goblin bone bolts+ for use against their comrades. Evil laughter is optional, of course.

hmmm make a huge maze lined with tons of traps(spikes crossbows more cages.....) but make it really really long and if any of the goblins manages to escape he has to make it through a huge room surronded by marksdwarves and if he escape he goes free to die another day

This kind of requires a certain sort of climate, but I point you to my post from the "holy crap that's evil" thread:
Regarding realizations of evil alignment:
So I'm building a fort in a glacier.  Some goblin thieves get caught in my cage traps.  My first thought is to build a tower-of-doom, as per usual.  Then I remember: by placing a dump order on the cage, I can strip the gobbos naked.  And when a squad of naked Orcish wrestlers (from Dig Deeper) came to my fort, they froze to death.  So I dug out a small channel outside my fort, and tossed the goblin thieves into it, leaving them to freeze to death.  Two thought occurred to me.  One, that this was a rather unique method of execution, one I hadn't even seen on the wiki.  Two, I just threw a goblin naked into a hole in the middle of the arctic waste and left it to slowly freeze to death.  I think that's a new personal record for atrocities; I generally prefer efficient slaughter to artistic deathtraps.
I suppose a sufficiently scorching climate might be used as well.

Actually, Clowns, that's what inspired me to ask about this.

The thing is, the only whips I have are iron; even just one will almost kill a goblin pretty quickly.

You said you don't have magma, but if you did, you could drain the pipe, put them in the top, then let it slowly refill and let them panic as their doom slowly approaches.

Nah. a 2z room, Iron grate floor and a magma cistern just large enough to fill the bottom and 1/7 of the second level.
Feet incinerating and soon the victims will be running around engulfed in flames.

I think it's also possible to shower them briefly in magma for the same effect, by having a magmasafe bridge above the room and pump the magma there.

For kicks and laugh, open the room after the shower to see how far they get before they drop dead.

A "Chunker". I developed this for use with the Dark Dwarves mod. I it originally called for Beak Dog pups or a mess of Giant Rats, but dogs will work.

Don't train all your dogs, but let them breed like mad. Put a dozen or so into a 1x1 room, then pit a naked goblin in with them. Open the door, and count the number of chunks you ripped off them.

Dwarf firing range. Working on this one for my dwarf vegas megaproject. Pit the goblin onto a thin strip of ground 20 tiles or so away from a catapult. Let your untrained dwarves try to hit them with catapults. Bonus points if a rookie manages to kill them.

Alternatively, give an untrained marksdwarf a base quality crossbow and 5 bone bolts and see if he can kill the goblin from half a dozen paces. If he fails, let the next marksdwarf try. Slow and painful death, seeing as unless they get a lucky hit he'll end up with half a dozen to a dozen bolts stuck in him.

Let your livestock kill your thieves.
I dropped a donkey into my goblin pit (filled with five goblin thieves) for a laugh, and it ended up that the donkey relentlessly slaughtered all five of them. They didn't even put up a fight.
Now with military goblins...

how about a room of random traps? drop a goblin into the middle of a room with pressureplates! Each pressureplate should be connected to an original trap, like "release the dogs" or "flood the room" or "activate spikes of doom"... Or even one that "opens door to freedom".

Watch the goblin walk around, activating random traps each time :D
