Geez, god forbid that someone says anything that's not perfectly PC.

Look, it's a fact of life that women go for alpha males. It's also a fact that alpha males tend to be selfish jerks.

the point of an alpha male is they look out for the community as a whole and keep everyone safe/share resources.
a selfish jerk would be an outcast.

The point of the alpha male is that he kills or exiles all serious competition. In today's world, that translates to stepping all over other people to get to success.

Wrong again.  "Alpha Male" in loosest reflective terms means the guy who acts like he could kick everyone's ass.

I don't think it applies all that much, but we are talking about humans here.  Every definition is wrong somehow.

God sometimes I'm ashamed to be a part of this community.

I would like to second this.

I was referring to the definition in the context of humans. The "alpha males" in our developing days were the ones who looked after the community, and the antisocial ones who hoarded or didn't do their work were outcasts.
Sorry for not making it clear I wasn't talking about lions or whatever.

Here's the thing.

Girls want one thing.

You aren't that thing.

You can either be what girls want (And there's nothing wrong with that.  A shopkeeper who changes his merchandise to reflect the demands of the market isn't being untrue to himself or any garbage like that) or you can wait for the girl who wants what you are.  If you choose the latter, don't whine about the people who choose the former.

It's same in humans. Alpha males in all social animals look after the group because it's in their best interest (that being propagation of his own genes at expense of other males' genes). They also get rid of any other males that look like they might turn into an alpha. Basically, in the early days anyone who vocally disagreed with the leader had a hunting accident. Later on they were deemed revolutionaries and executed. Nowadays you'll get fired if you try to tell your boss how to do his job.

vocal disagreement != elimination of sexual competition

it's in a human societies best interests for multiple breeders, whereas in animal societies the male has the best traits so those want to be passed on, where humans more want to pass on as much genetic material as possible

What males humans, and especially in the context of finding girlfriends, want is to have sex and companionship.  In the case of starting a family to have someone, preferably someone who accomplishes things the parent in question is proud of, to keep doing things the parent is proud of and take care of them later on.  "Society's best interests" and passing on genes has absolutely nothing to do with anything.

My friend, who went and saw the movie ("The movie was pretty bad, but the reaction from the audience every time a male character took his shirt off was hilarious") insists that they are not vampires since they:
- Don't drink blood
- Live in the woods
- Sparkle
He therefore concluded that they are, in fact, about fairies.

Yea, me and my friends are going to watch this movie on Nov. 25th. The first one was pretty funny so we're expecting this one to be at least as good.

But it is. If women go for the group leader, anyone that challenges your decision is sexual competition because he undermines your position as a leader.

And the second part makes no sense whatsoever.
