Let's Try To Play The Sims 3! *On Extended Hiatus*
« on: November 20, 2009, 10:50:08 pm »

So, yeah...

I was really disappointed I couldn't do the KoTOR LP, but I figured I needed to do something, and the thought occurred. Aqizzar's LP of the Sims 2 up and died, sadly; and I frankly loved that to death. I figure, I might as well go ahead and give this a shot, to continue the legacy.

We will be playing in the city of Pleasantview, as that other city bores me to tears. Before we can get characters up and running, though, we'll need to decide something vital: Do we want aging, and do we want story progression?

For the uninformed, here's some details.

Aging: Exactly what it says on the tin; aging allows sims to grow older, and eventually die. Naturally, this has its pros and cons.

Story Progression: The much more controversial of the two. This basically means that Sims will live their lives, even when you're not there. Normally, that's fantastic, but that can end up having nasty consequences, like your Sims having babies when I'm not around; or, even worse, packing up and moving out of town, never to be seen again. If we choose this one, I'll probably restrict myself to one household at a time, to prevent people leaving us without my permission.

So, vote away, and pray this one doesn't die on us!

This being Homestuck, I'm not sure whether that's post-scratch Rose or Vriska with a wig.

I say yes on both, provided you patch the game first. That should resolve Sims mimicking dwarves in the spore department.

Optionally, you can always AwesomeMod it as well, to fix further issues. Linked inside the link is a way to configure it to your liking as well.

Be wary though, it tends to remind you to update AwesomeMod, and sometimes not allow you to play. But it's a small price to pay for following what it says on the tin. For being awesome. As a feature in AM as well, sims won't smile as you design them; yielding more accuracy.

OK, voting is officially over. The majority vote is for story progression and aging to be set ON. Now, it's time for submissions.

I'm going to need

Name: What do you wish to be called?
Gender: Are you a man or a woman?
Appearance: Be specific. This includes facial features, hair, fatness and musculature, clothing, even skin color. Go wild, and I'll try to make it as best as I can.
Traits: Here's where it gets complicated. In The Sims 3, you can choose up to 5 traits for your Sim, which determines how they behave. A list is located at the bottom of this post.
Aspiration: What do you want your sim to do with their life?

I'm going to give myself a limit here at 16 Sims, that's two houses full. I'd rather not get more than I can handle too quickly.

Well, you know how if you take your thumb and forefinger and hold them up to your eye, you can make it look like you're squishing someone's head? It's like that, only for real.
