Trans-continental nightmare dwarf: THE DORFENING
« on: November 19, 2009, 06:25:48 pm »

I found this..

http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1058154/

which refers to this:

from the FA journal:
Quote
The original poster returned later to confirm its truth and embellish the story:

"You bet your ass it is

The crazy dwarf is regarded as an NPC, and as such isn't constrained by thirst or hunger, only injuries and the natural environment.
Not like that works, anyway, though.

My friend set up a trap for him once in an existing fort, consisting of a tunnel with a bunch of lava hidden behind floodgate in a 1x15 corridor, and a door in another room linked by a lever. The rapedwarf entered the trap. My friend ordered the nearby speardwarves to hit the lever and trap him in a cauldron of lava.

The rapedorf actually out-sprinted the gaurds when they were going towards the lever, making it at least ten or fifteen squares away and out of the trap altogether by the time the speardwarf (who was right next to the lever) had even pulled the lever.

Consider also that he gets stronger gathering how many enemies he beats due to an algorithim of the game and faster gathering how much he runs.

So, he is so fast he can't be trapped, so strong he can't be beaten, grows continually stronger, continually faster, and doesn't require food or water."

He's chaos..

Pure utter horrible death and destruction.

He's just a machine of hate, contempt and revenge.

. . .

"Well, actually, I tell a little bit of a lie.

He does SEEM to eat, although I'm not sure if it affects him at all. Like, he probably isn't affected by hunger like other dwarves are, he's probably just following pre-programmed design to eat the food.

In his original home with the 110 dwarves in it, there are the corpses of monkeys and deers everywhere.

Come to think of it, that's how he lured the dwarf into the lava trap - he dumped a stack of food into the end of the hallway.

If I checked, I'd probably find IRC logs of him telling me how the dwarf was eating his own shit and wallowing in his own filth when he sent in that primary rescuing party. I guess that's his primary sustainence - his own shit."

Wait... FurAffinity?

If the RapeDwarf did indeed exist, I understand him going in an epic berzerk rampage after learning that the fortress is ruled by a furry.

Sorry about that, couldn't resist.

Back on topic: Firstly I don't think that berzerk dwarves can leave the fort site after abandoning (at least I have never heard of it happening). Secondly mad dwarves do not eat or drink, and will die of dehydration/starvation after a while. (Though it might have happened in an earlier version) Finally that sounds awfully like a hoax to me; the guy telling the story heard it from a friend in irc and all the game files have mysteriously disappeared.

I call suspiciously exciting story on that.

Somewhat tempted to agree with Servu here. It all sounds a little bit too implausible.
Added to that, the post is started with the words 'I knew a guy...'

true - i find it very hard to believe that a crazy dorf could do such a thing, but i will say this:

i dont think its impossible, or at the very least: it sounds VERY dorfy. (which makes it a good story none the less, true or not)

That is 4chan, so you must have missed the part where his mother gets scared and forces him to move with his auntie and uncle in Bel-Air.

I don't really believe that, BUT I do wonder what happens when the fort falls/is abandoned while a dwarf is berserk (which I'm guessing is what he's claiming?).

The question is, what happens when a berserk dwarf is still alive when you lose? After all, if you reclaim, time passes, right? And yet, they're still there. Does a berserk dwarf that outlives your fortress have hunger and thirst "turned off?"

I think it's time for Dwarven Science. :P

...indeed it is.

We must generate a berserk dwarf, seal him in a room, and save (maybe more in their own rooms, and maybe melancholy and mad as well). Then abandon, and visit it in both reclaim mode and adventure mode, to see if the berserk dwarves will starve or not. We may have to cage the dwarves in question to keep them on the site.
