Map request
« on: November 19, 2009, 10:49:00 am »

Recently i've had an idea for a fort, but to do the idea I need a map with certain features, after many regens failing to find what I an looking for i'm asking here, does anyone have a world/map with:

Yellow Sand desert
No aquifer
several layers of sand going down (about 3 or more)
Large deposits of marble or limestone or some other white stone underneath the sand
Lava (not completely needed)
Decent amount of metal
HFS

if you have a map without the bottom three requests that has the others, then please post that as well

Hmmm, lots of yellow sand and limestone... yellow and white... your trying to make beer fort! A noble effort indeed.

Though I dont have such a map, I can tell you that finding it without tweaking worldgen params would be a pain in the arse.

So, you might want to gen a world with very little rain and either very little or very much drainage (dont remember which one, but its easy  enough to find out).

If you dont want the world te be entirly made of dessert (understandable, as dessert wouldnt supposrt elves or humans) then you will want to the mesh parameters, I could cook you up something if you dont know how, but finding the site might still be a pain as im note sure whether you can see the number of soil layers from the embark menu.

I make Grimlocke's History & Realism Mods. Its got poleaxes, sturdy joints and bloomeries. Now compatible with DF Revised!

You cannot, in my limitate knowledge.
3 layers of soil? Wow, in any site I embarked so far i only found max 2 layers. Then aquifer  :-[

I was just asking for what I would consider the best case scenario

Anyway i've found this, quite a good map anyway, the sand I wanted, 2 levels of this, a very small aquifer (not the sand biome) that i've linked to for a water source, no lava but plenty of gems, coal, lignite and iron ore(limonite)

Plus at least 4 z-levels of marble, haven't gone any deeper yet though.

Although a beer fort sounds epic I am unfortunately trying my first megastructure/city, a extremely large tower, made entirely of marble blocks, surrounded by a city and walls.

I'll remember to make a beer mozaic at some point in remembrance of that idea though =D

seed was 3706678589, world size set to medium and i didn't change anything else than that.

somewhere around the right at the bottom of the world (not extreme right) there is a small patch of deserts, i used a combination of a very small slip of the aquifer bearing wasteland(i think it was wasteland, it has a soil toplayer) and the yellow sand desert with marble underneath it.

good luck with it
