This is basically what IC's do when they are dead, and usually they don't pop in because it interferes with what's going on. Another reason the ICs actually play is so people can get an idea of what "normal" play is.

True. But if the problem is that people feel like they're being treated bad by IC players, the solution would be to take them out. What if ICs were people that players could PM for advice? That idea has its flaws, but if newbies felt like there wasn't an experienced players who was out to get them, that everyone was there to have fun & to learn, and that they were playing on an equal playing field, then less people would want to leave the game. Both because this problem...

I think part of the issue is we usually have a few vets in the game, and they tend to be a bit...  unaccommodating to lack of experience.

Perhaps the issue is the games are too big? Waiting for 7 new players to pop along all at once is the problem.

That's part of the reason we've talked about moving to regular games that happen to be newbie friendly. Much easier to get 8 people to sign up quickly for, say, a Paranormal then it is a beginner's game.

I'm available to run FBYOR 3, now with less brokenness, a theme other than Basic, and more than 9 players!

I would prefer to run Odd Mafia instead, but Tomasque and I haven't finished developing that.

When you end up running it, please define what the theme actually entails Because my inexperienced and unexposed mind really was shocked to see...a very complex roleset than what is expected when you think of 'Basic'.

But I'll love playing any of these 3 proposed games, and with a lot less unneeded stress and sensitivity! (Still sorry about BYOR 0 and my emotional reactions which weren't particularly sportsmanly too x.x)

Theme is something beyond normal, not caused by roles. Something like running on an RPG system, players having no actions and having to buy them using an auction system, being bastard, or something like that. Basic means no change.

You meant Fallacy, right? Here I am, wondering what you mean, and then I see Fallacy's thing, and realize you are thinking of FHPBYOR, when Fallacy was saying just FBYOR.
