The reality is, we're having a hard time filling the games already in sign-ups. More games will only exacerbate the problem.

Nah, we have a lot of abnormal games. I can fill a NSBM with 9 people easy schmeasy.

I think I might be up for running a basic pure vanilla (9 players, basic roles, mostly non-role townies). Would anyone be interested?

Just stick it on ice for now- there are several games in signup.  Once people start getting out of them, it should fill nicely.
