Funnily enough I was thinking about a BYO-Pokemon myself. You could have role mechanics based around the different element strength/weakness charts, there are lots of possibilities with it.

I like BYOBook and BYOClass the most, assuming Class is 'RPG Class'.

Generic Arms Race.

Would you like to play a game of Mafia? The subforum is always open to new players.

I was considering doing just that, though I'm not sure how well it'd work with fewer players than types. It might be OK with a simplified type chart a la the TCG's.

I think it should mean socioeconomic class, where the quality of the role corresponds to how much the players pay you.

Well it could describe postage, or warships, or places you sit on a train or a plane, or how good or bad someone is at a particular thing.

There’s a lot to it.

"Moby Dick" is probably a valid role for all 4 games...
Ah yes, my favourite rpg class, Moby Dick.

BYOClass I'd be tempted to play, purely so I can pull out really obscure class like Factotum.

A more compicated expansive way of doing it would be to allow everyone to pick a pokemon but have a game phase where they can catch new pokemon. You're eliminated when you run out of 'mons, or are ejected from the tournament in the day phase. I'm imagining Team Rocket as mafia would try to steal pokemon on routes to different wild zones. There are a lot of creative ways pokemon gameplay mechanics could be introduced.

I've got a mean idea I want to try. No spoilers on what, though would need a lot of players and someone to sanity check it.

:(  I'd probably in, but so far, this sounds minimally aligned with my preferences.
