Personally I'm leaning towards B and C in the options I posted. While balancing Jade Court as an open setup is doable, it's not fun in the same way that designing a closed setup is.

Hmm. I think including some example roles in the OP will be helpful if I do run Jade Court, though.

The reason I asked was so I could get some input on which the more popular choice would be, you know? Player interest is an important factor in deciding what games to run.

Forum registration just got approved, was hoping to make it in time for the most recent game.

I'm game for whatever. I guess I'd say it's up to you for whether you want to use the Jade Court setting and flavor now or save it for when the setup is truly perfect.

Sometimes, the only way to make something great is to first make something crappy. So I would suggest a Turquoise Court now. That would be Option A or B, I guess.

I don't really think we're fighting. Max is just disagreeing with what I'm saying, and I'm disagreeing with what he's saying. I'm pretty sure neither of us are particularly heated about it, but I suppose I can't technically answer for Max. I just figured he'd want my mindset in case it becomes relevant in a future game, and I would want his.

Alright, I'll start working on the closed-setup Jade Court OP. If all goes well I'll have it up by tonight.

The way I think I'll do it is this - I'll make sure nobody goes into it blind by posting example roles and role categories, for example Smith's Guild Leader or Young Master Of The Blue Oyster Sect. That way even though the mafiascum wiki won't serve so much as a roles reference, you'll all still have a fair idea of what may show up.
