Rotten remains
« on: November 18, 2009, 09:10:42 am »

Why am I having to explicitly mark animal remains for dumping before anything gets done these days? I'm sure the amount of trash has gone up since my dwarf / cat population has gotten so big, but I don't remember having to do this even once back in the early days. I have plenty of idlers around with hauling active when the cats drop this stuff but I still have to do this myself before rot kicks in, it's everything I can do right now fighting a constant war against miasma, I'd just like to be able to leave my fortress for 5 minutes while I deal with other issues.

I would fill it with Magma if there was any on my map... there isn't, so I'm filling it with Rhesus Macaques.

Do you have a refuse pile set to accept vermin corpses? Did you accidentally disable hauling refuse from the orders menu?

Ah, yes, it was the refuse settings, split the original into two piles, one indoors for bones and shells, one outdoors for rotting material, looks like I missed remains when I was setting it up. Thanks :)
