Is it possible to edit water to make it REALLY HOT and red, and edit magma to be room temperature and BLUE?

No.

Water and magma are pretty much entirely hardcoded materials. There's not very much you can do about them at all.

As far as I know, you can't mod anything about them at all.

Toady mentioned that you could in theory use buckets of water as a reagent in the current version; however there's no task to get them for that purpose, you'd have to interrupt dwarves getting them for wounded dwarves :p

Well, I suppose the REST of the world is gonna have to be a bit wackier to make up for this defeat. SG8 has a wackiness quota to meet, you know!  ::)

Yeah, and there's no way you'd be able to get a proper fluid out of it anyway.

It's going to be a long time before we have fluids that aren't typical water or magma.
