Sounds interesting, rather than a map upload how about posting the worldgen and location information?

If you want to upload the map, you need to compress it (.zip) first. The worldgen info can be done by exporting a map when you have a fort in that world. It's in the menu reached with the Escape key, I believe.

I use the CivForge mod so you'll need that. Also Ive removed marble. Oh and in case it affects anything I gave all the new megas size 40 and damblock 20. Same for dragons and titans.

Its a 3x3 has magma, flux, a chasm, and a brook. I think there's at least 3 magnetite pockets in there as well.

Search to run is 3x3 with flux no aquifer river magma pipe and chasm.

Those lucky dwarves, despite the risk of being stabbed, shots, poisoned, eaten, mauled, enslaved, eviscerated or involved in accidents... at least they don’t have to worry about immediate dangers like the heat death of the universe.

Trees are for women, as is trading

Meet Anvildrill (Found using the finder with EVIL, SAVAGE, FLUX, MAGMA PIPE, UNDERGROUND RIVER, CHASM and HFS)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The red dot is where the wagon is. Magma, An underground river, a chasm and HFS. Not a single damn tree in the entire map, apart from what I shall farm. Plenty of flesh and blood beasties, but the dwarves are practically inaccessible on their perch.

Well, this is as good a thread as any for my latest site. I decided I wanted a straight section of major river surrounded by flat land to build a castle over/across, with magnetite + bauxite in flux and a lava pipe. Sand optional, lack of aquifer mandatory. A rather specific request, but a nice result:

The Windy Dragon-Realm
  • Major river (47 tiles wide, carp)
  • Sand (plain sand)
  • Magma Pipe (near surface)
  • Chalk (flux)
  • magnetite
  • bauxite (including precious gems)
  • gold
  • Trees (RIDICULOUS numbers of the things. To the point where maintaining a caravan path is a pain without paved roads.)
  • Very nearly flat (2 z-levels of surface)

Note: Other important metals may be present. These are the ones I found so far while playing my personal mix of mods, and confirmed still present in a copy of the region generated in unmodified 40d. My personal mods are bits and pieces of half a dozen others modified in ways I've forgotten, but it includes orcs and only a little in the way of changes to rocks. The only major differences between vanilla 40d and the one I'm actually playing is limestone instead of chalk.

Note 2: I nearly didn't include a history seed. This is because the original one I exported to regen the world had dwarves go extinct, and the one I genned in vanilla 40d to test it had goblins go extinct. As did the 3 attempts after that. I suggest you check on the civilizations in legends before embarking if you use a different history seed. >.<

NOT present: chasm/pit. HFS. Undead. Hippos. Aquifer.

*Thanks to Goran for the (slightly modified) worldgen params (sans seed) I used to find this region.

edit: okay, what the hell. I was looking through legends of the version I'm playing and I saw this:

The Distracting Truth of Anvils... What a nice name. Does anyone else get the mental image of anvils dropping on people's heads?

Christ, are you dwarves or are you elves? If you think Hell has too many demons, then you kill them till the population reaches an acceptable number.

I thought the distracting truth in Dwarf Fortress would be the fact you can wield an anvil as an effective weapon.

Imagine a cool peice of sky-blue and milk-white marble about 3cm by 2cm and by 0.5cm, containing a tiny 2mm malacolite crystal. Now imagine the miles of metamorphic rock it's embedded in that no pick or chisel will ever touch. Then, imagine that those miles will melt back into their mantle long before any telescope even refracts an image of their planet. The watchers will be so excited to have that image too.
