Witch Pattern
« on: November 16, 2009, 07:10:46 pm »

Hi everybody.

Witch Pattern is my first game that I'm gonna release to public in few upcoming days. its a blend of real time roguelike, logic, wargame(realistic penetrations, wounds(11 different locations with 3 different wound types), recoil, etc), action-rpg.

Maps, npcs, monsters are randomly generated.

So lets play the detective mode:

In the middle you can see player.  At the top there is hud ;). You can see there player health condition, weather, current night/time cycle, temperature, accuracy of last shot, fire modes, stances, ammunition.

By pressing 'l' you can turn on the NPC list. There you can sort all the npcs by different categories.
The detective story is about: aliens are killing NPCs by some kind of pattern. You have to find out the pattern and stop them.

Ok, second alien kill:

So now we can easly find out a pattern.

Lets fool around on some other locations. Gather ammo from NPCs and let them improve our weapons.

So i finally sorted my NPCs by pattern:

I will go to location (2,2) and wait for them. They plan to kill there a short blonded, blue eyed male. ;)

Once again i recived some ammo and weapons improvements from scientist NPC at destination.

and i waited until them appeared! Not them, but the weakest alien enemy: The Host.

Kinda dissapointing.

And I easly killed him by a head shot with 95% propablity. And you can see my cheesy "WINNER" description ;).

and lets look on killed monster list:

And there is other gameplay mode, just basic hack'n'slash: kill as many as you can.
Thanks for reading this. I hope it wasnt so confusing.

Looks awesome!  You may want to put those pictures in spoilers though, so they don't take up quite so much room in your post.

How many is "few upcoming days"?  Now I want to try this!

On the Wall is a Masterfully engraved carving of Urist McHardcastle and Goblins. Urist McHardcastle is surrounded by the Goblins. The Golbins are stamping on Urist McHardcastle. Urist McHardcaste is laughing at the Goblins. The carving related to the prolonged and bloody death of Urist McHardcastle in the Fall of 1659, the Winter of 1659, and the Spring of 1660. On the engraving is an image of Cheese.

Spambot symptoms:

Escaped Luantic: Check.
Shameless topic: Check.
Bad grammar: Check.
Links: Not check, which is strangely self-defeating.

But then, life was also easier when I was running around here pretending to be a man, so I guess I should just "man up" and get back to work.

I'd say that it's a human spam because this is the correct forum.  I'd also say it looks like a cool game.

well.... even if its spam, then its extremely well written and appropriate. So yeah...either way the game is looking really nice, and well made, so got no problems with it.

 Nah, this guy is Legit.

Looks cool, although it seems a bit too technical for me. Unless you start having obscure bonuses for hair and eye colors, is it really necessary to have that on the spreadsheet?

It may be part of that "determine alien killing pattern" part of the game he mentioned.

Yeah, the only reason such things are on the spread sheet is to determine who's most at risk of being targeted. Sort of like how actual police determine what profile serial killers target.

So it's a new guy who wants to show his project to our community.

Post count and join date are helpers in determining spambots, not the ultimate deciding factor.

I agree with Duke. All newcomers may be welcomed, even if this isn't a 'normal' forum for lunatics.

This looks like spam, just like that last guy doing a DF multi-player thing.
If I'm wrong on either of these, I apologize to the owners of these threads,
but I am only going on intuition and instinct,
if the two things can be considered separate.

I hope it isn't though, it looks pretty cool.

It's not automated and it's correctly targeted so it is fully excused.

I don't quite understand how you tell where the alien is going after their next victim.
