How do end a fort
« on: November 16, 2009, 05:47:53 pm »

Well i have a fort thats falling into the low FPS pit of doom. :'(
But i want the fort do be destroyed in the most awsome way possible before i leave the fort forever.

I have a few doors i could open do magma flood the place but thats no fun.
It would be nice do know how could i create a tantrum spiral?

1. Build an atom smasher.
2. Find three or four dwarves with a LOT of friends.
3. Station them under the atom smasher.
4. Pull lever
5. ???
6. TANTRUM!

EDIT: Might take more than three or four, but the idea as a whole is relatively sound. You might have one or two "Doesn't care about anything anymore." survivors, but eh.

Sounds like a plan, as long as the friends/family in question are friends/family of the others. You want as many of your dwarves as possible to lose -multiple- friends/family/whatever to really drive them mad. In addition, you could try undesignating the dining rooms, stature gardens and anything of the like you might have and wait a while before atom smashing your soldiers, to make sure the other dwarves lose their 'has dined in a legendary dining room lately' modifiers and such.

a pretty awesome way would be to build a tower that reaches far into the sky, and a series of bridgeapults up there.

recruit ALL dwarves and put them up there, pull the lever and watch them fly in all directions

Turn off the farms. Dump the food in the magma. Create a single 1 tile meeting zone. Stop all work. Let the dwarves make friends. Then, when you're out of food and booze, atom smash a few dozen dwarves. Instant tantruming.

Flood everything with lava, make a tower out of gems or something to make a water fall out off!

Make an enormous pit directly below your fort.

Fill it with magma.

Drop fort into magma.

Send everybody unskilled in wrestling and unarmed/unarmored and fight a siege.

Also, another option is to give them weapons with no skill in them.  Put the only dwarves with skills in a weapon with a select group of dwarves.

This idea is from a thread by another poster:

Build an outside staircase up to the sky, with a platform on top. Build an Armor Stand or Weapon Rack on the platform and set it as your only Barracks. Draft all of your Dwarves, leave them off duty, equip them with Hammers and no Armor, and set them to spar up on the platform. They'll knock each other off (or dodge off) and fall twenty stories to a grisly explosive death, one after another.

That should fix your frame-rate problem. The last survivor can continue playing as a Yoda-like Hermit.

Create 1x1 bridges in random locations throughout the fortress.  Link them to pressure plates activated by any creature, friendly creatures included, also located randomly throughout the fortress.

Barring ending your fort outright, it makes a great way to keep your dwarf and animal population under control.

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

Well first i tried bridgeapulting alot of dwarfs off the tower.
Noone tantrumed or went berzerk.
Then i tried atomizer.
NOHTING.
Then i decided do hell whit it and just magmaflood the hole place.
55 deaths later.
NOONE is berzerking or tantruming and god knows why.
Then i just used DF companion do transform some dwarfs into spirits of fire.
IT DIDINT WORK.The campions killed all the spirits and the fort continued.
Il just try do make a fort collapsing machine.

dumping all your masterpieces and artefacts into magma should do it.
