Well of Souls
« on: November 16, 2009, 01:18:55 am »

http://www.synthetic-reality.com/wosHome.htm

Used to play it a long time ago, started playing again; though it seems to have sunken into torpor. Before I'd have trouble actually getting onto a server since there were so many people online.

The game's circum 1995, so don't expect too much, but it's free, customizable, and multiplayer.
You can download other worlds or upload a world yourself (Evergreen is the default world). I haven't the foggiest idea how to make a world, so figure that out yourself.

The game used to eat up a lot of my time, so I figured the least I could do is share it with the rest of you in hopes that someone might take a liking to it.

I played it a lot when I was younger. One aspect I never liked was how saving characters worked. I'm pretty sure your characters were saved client side, so you couldn't easily play your character on another computer. If you simply copied it the game would flag it as modified and you wouldn't be able to play online.

Actually, there's a method to circumvent that.

Basically, you copied your saves into the game directory after installing the game, but before running it the first time.

The only problem was, the only method available to physically transfer information at that time was with floppy discs.
