Went to a fantastic pub in York on saturday.
The Rook and Gaskill is a winner of many good pub and good beer awards, and it's just outside one of the old city gates. It has 12 real ales and three real ciders, which change every week or so. There's also a few good house ales.
It got it's name from a nearby gallows a few centuries ago, where two criminals, Messrs Rook and Gaskill were hanged.
If you live in the area and like a damn good pint in a damn good pub with damn good food, go there.

Honestly those guys were screwed from Day One.  Gaskill and Rook are the most thievish names I've ever heard.  That's like naming your son Marvin Dexter Einstein, and not expecting him to get beaten up at school.

Their deaths provided me with a nice place to enjoy a pint of Firefly, so I'm not complaining.
The pub's sign is a great big double gallows on a hill.

The only half-decent US whiskey.

I am actually surprised that there are people that like bourbon. I tried a bottle of Four Roses once, tasted horrid. I suspect they brew it inside a monkey's anus.

My dad drinks Maker's Mark and says Jack Daniels is for hicks.

He also drinks Yuengling, but that's beer.  I don't know anything about alcohol, so I don't know if he has refined tastes or whatever.

Yuengling is not refined per se, but it's entirely adequate.

Of bourbon, I know little. I know that I prefer Jim Beam's Black Label to Jack Daniels, but I'm a beer man. I do drink most things though, although only if they're quality beverages.

Gah, I can't find a good beer in South Korea. All the local beers like Hite, OB and Max are rather bland.

Then again a bottle of Soju is less than a dollar here so it's not all bad.

I wouldn't say it's disgusting, but yeah, for some reason teenage nerds consider it the most potent alcohol ever or something.  I think I did that.
