Re: Sensei's Livestream (Notline) (Why can I only broadcast DOS games?)
« Reply #60 on: February 15, 2010, 03:39:43 pm »

By the way, I think this tidbit of info may be useful to you guys.

Quote from: The Manual
To build a new city, you first have to go to the production screen in one of your other cities (see City Screen) and click on the settlers button. When you have constructed a settlers unit (note that it “costs” a townsperson to build this unit), decide on the best location for your new city. Spend some time examining the terrain in areas that are clear of other towns. The terrain types within two map squares of a city map square (specifically, all the squares except for the four corner squares in the 5X5 area centered around the city) determine the maximum population for the city and the special resources available to the city; a synopsis of a city’s potential on a selected map square is accessible via the surveyor button. See the Surveyor, Terrain and Terrain Specials sections for relevant information.

This essentially means that you don't have to build your city directly on top of terrain features to get their benefits. When you right-click a city and look in the upper right you will see which parts of the terrain you are benefiting from. This means that even if your city is built on grassland you will still be able to build a sawmill if there's a forest nearby.

Abandonia has the manual for the game in a PDF.

I will probably go online when/if I get tired of URU today. Since it's so popular, we will probably just resume MoM where we left off. While it lacks fun narrative potential, strategy games seem nonetheless to be a great stream choice.

It will be online, sooner or later. Right now I've mostly been playing URU (not procaster friendly) and doing homework.

Well, as you may have known, I've been quite sick for the past few weeks. I expect to be streaming again something within the next 7 days. If the technical aspect works out, we'll be playing Alone in the Dark. Failing that, Master of Magic or System Shock like always. Broadcasting time will be irregular as always, but expect it to take place sometime between 4 and 12 PM MST if it's a weekday. If it's a weekend, man, I don't even know. It's mysterious.

Though I love Master of Magic very much, I would enjoy watching System Shock.  Was way too slow on my last computer (dosbox), maybe it'll work on my new one.  System Shock 2 is one of my favorite games, and the original looks better in some ways.
Scratch that, you'll be playing Alone in the Dark!?  That sounds perfect for livestreaming!  Cool!

I hate to post so much without actually starting the stream, but I can confirm that Alone in the Dark does work. And it is scary.

Mega Man tonight! It's terrible, and that's why I'm watching it. I'm pretty much starting right away, but don't worry if you miss the intro. It consists entirely of 90's power metal (?) which informs you, much to your surprise no doubt, that Mega Man is a fighting robot for about three minutes. Enjoy!
