Ingtakmestthos (Twilight Citadel)
Welcome to Searching the Depths: Ingtakmestthos, this will be an interactive story, with the main characters controlled by the players, this is the first story of this type I have done though it won’t be the only one if it goes well, some info first and then the backstory.
The story will be done through a combination of text and ascii draw, any tips or comments that are helpful about this are welcome.
Mechanics work on a combination of common sense, karma and dice, dice system is simple, the higher you score the more chance you have of succeeding, not all events warrant a dice.
Here is the sign up sheet, there are six places available for adventurers, and another six for recurring villains, adventurers are there all the time, while those who control villains will discuss their next attempts/be warned when their next appearance is coming up OVER PM, if someone with a villain states theirs plans in the thread and clues the adventurers in then that’s their own fault.
Also NO MAGIC, magic is only for story uses, no player characters can use it.
Name:
Species: (Dwarf, Human, elf, goblin, kobold)
Age:
Gender:
Personality:
Backstory:
Equipment: (Not gonna put specific limits on this but be reasonable, all masterwork steel armor is a no-no and the world at large hasn’t had any amount of adamantium bigger than a small pebble for nearly a thousand years, however a powerful sword offset by crappy armor would be ok.)
When signing up for an adventurer please give an indication of your reasons for joining the party, villians please send me your immediate plans after departure via PM.
Backstory:
The Planes of Destiny and Grandeur they call it, well actually that’s what the noble classes call it, so pretty much everyone else has decided to spite them and uses the original true name, The Realms of Fish, yeah, that’s why people shouldn’t let perpetually drunk midgets name planets, but no matter what you call it, the Realms are home to some very diverse and unique creatures, with a history full of tales, each one a small thread in the vast tapestry that makes up the history of this world.
This is one of those tales.
====
Historians tell of days long in the past, days of darkness and grandeur, when the famous mountain halls of the dwarves were still but small holes in the rock, teeming with life, when the goblin clans still ravaged there way across the continents and the elves still clung to the empty hope that their trees could still be saved. These times continued for many years, and as the fighting escalated whispers began, about a final battle that would end everything, turning the entire world into one big blood-soaked battlefield.
They were wrong, the Age of Myths did not end with a gigantic final battle, it just ended. One day the elder races were living and fighting as normal, and the next they were all gone, with only a few survivors remaining, confused and alone they banded together, ignoring the old battles and grudges for the necessity of survival.
As the new settlements stabilised they began to search, trying to find out what happened to their forebears, but it was futile and in the end, thye never found out. Still time went on, and settlements became towns, towns became cities and slowly the world recovered, a different world to be sure, but a world all the same.
Nowadays the majority of the populations reside in crowded megacities, large circular cities where the nobles live in large dwarf built towers in the center, and the ajority are left to life in the slums in the outer reaches of the city, our story starts in one of these cities, Stakas-Muthul

You stand nervously in the waiting room, all to aware of the small amount of places available and the large amount of hopefuls, all hoping to prove their worth for the expedition, you found the leaflet by chance, maybe you woke up in the gutter after your latest night out, and found it on the ground nearby, or maybe you found it on one of the new lampposts, so prone to exploding that many stopped in wonder at the daring of someone willing to touch the things just to put up posters.
Either way you are now in this room listening to an old dwarf outline his plans to raid an old dwarf fortress, The Twlight Citadel, known in the old tongue as Ingtakmestthos, an old, great treasures are said to be held in these old halls, yet like most of the fortresses, all but a few now abandoned to the elements, there is likely to be great danger.
As the meeting progresses many leave in disgust, it is clear the old dwarf is mad, babbling on about how his love was left behind in the original migration when the fortress was abandoned, and how he wants to go back and rescue her, one by one the hopefuls leave, until by the end only six including yourself remain, maybe you have a kindly heart, and do not wish to let an old man meet his death alone in the cold depths, or maybe you have seen the facts, the old man has supplies, armor, weapons and most importantly, maps, though the intention is insane, this is a well funded expedition, with plenty of chance to pick up some loot along the way.
Whatever your reasons to agree to help, and add your signatures to the exploration permits before retiring for a last night in the taverns, because tomorrow you set off, to death and glory, to riches and wonders.
To Ingtakmestthos.
Ok just to repeat myself once more, I need six adventurers and six villains for this, the adventurers are needed to start, while the villains can be added later, if we get at least three people and a long wait has been had then we will start early and I will try to add in others later as they come.

Important NPC’s so far:
Urist: An old dwarf, seemingly insane, his large amount of money means he is the one who has funded this trip, he also seems to have above average skill with his sword and some knowledge of the dangerous magics present in the wilds, though no skills in its use.
