Ok, games everyone should try, a la Frosty.
Metroid Prime - Gamecube/WiiBest FPS game ever in my opinion. The game is gorgeous(Metroid Prime 1 looks better than Halo 3, I swear), the gameplay is fantastic, the atmosphere is powerful, and the bosses will make you cry yourself to sleep. A masterpiece.
Tales of Vesperia - 360/PS3One of my favorite games, and a solid RPG. Very story heavy, but at least the story is interesting, if a lil' cliche. The battles are done in realtime and involve a large amount of skill. There are loads of secrets, gigantic bosses that are unbelievably tough (outside the second town I found a level 55 huge bull named Brutal. His name says it all, it took me about twenty minutes to kill this bastard with my party of level 50s, including three deaths.) and a battle and skill system unlike anything else I've seen.
Disgaea - PS2/DS/PSPBest strategy RPG series ever made, period. Hundreds of items, at least a hundred classes, and some of the best characters in any media. I'm not too great at this game, I admit. For me, this game is hard. Very hard. And yet I love it like I love my tea. Random dungeons, demons, angels, Midboss(I love Midboss, that sexy beast), monsters, and tons and tons of overkill moves. Just watch the
trailer.
Now, some games that nobody ever played, yet should have.Okami - PS2/WiiNow here is a game that is original. The game looks like a ink painting, has interesting enemies and characters from Japanese mythology, stunning music, and unique system of gaining experience.
With the Wiimote(or controller, if playing the old PS2 one) you draw in the game, and what you draw happens. By scribbling a swirl, a wind comes and blows across the screen. By drawing a line through something, it cuts it with a divine sword. You can make trees, vines, manipulate fire, water, wind, electricity, blow things up, cut them down, ect. Certain enemies have weaknesses to certain techniques, but there is usually multiple ways to kill everything.
Instead of the classic "kill enemy, get xp", you only get money from kills. To get experience, or "praise", you perform good deeds for the animals and citizens that live in the world.
Helping people and solving their problems leads to good things, but in general you can skip all the sidequests if you don't feel like doing them. This game has so many secrets, its not even funny. And you need to seriously look to find them. I could go on for days about this game, so I better leave off here. This is my all-time favorite game.
Persona 3 - PS2/PSPA strange mix of everyday-life sim and dungeon romping. During the day you hang out with friends, go to school, see a movie, whatever you want. At night you battle your way through the massive dungeon of Tartarus that randomly changes as you explore it, and collect new items and "personas", which are demons and ancient gods that you summon by shooting yourself in the head. Yeah, I know, it sounds weird as hell, but it's awesome. This game has so many possible paths, and a normal playthough takes about 110 hours, than it will take me a long freakin' time to completely finish it. I love this game.
Now I'm tired, so I'm stopping.
