And Star Fox- do a barrel roll!

Oh yeah!

Star Fox 64 is a required game. Many great quotes. You can legally acquire it either for the N64 (obviously), or off of the Wii Virtual Console. Only bad thing is, you can't save. So you have to do a runthrough in one sitting (or take pauses while leaving the system on), which can take a couple hours. Or legally acquire it first and then play it on an emulator with savestates.

You can save(in a way, more like continue) with the virtual console if you exit to the menu. When you come back it will be right where you left it.(I'm not 100%, but i know I have games of Adventure Island and Gradius that has my highscore from two years. It seems to work pretty well.)

Or use project 64 on your computer.

Ok, games everyone should try, a la Frosty.

Metroid Prime - Gamecube/Wii
Best FPS game ever in my opinion. The game is gorgeous(Metroid Prime 1 looks better than Halo 3, I swear), the gameplay is fantastic, the atmosphere is powerful, and the bosses will make you cry yourself to sleep. A masterpiece.

Tales of Vesperia - 360/PS3
One of my favorite games, and a solid RPG. Very story heavy, but at least the story is interesting, if a lil' cliche. The battles are done in realtime and involve a large amount of skill. There are loads of secrets, gigantic bosses that are unbelievably tough (outside the second town I found a level 55 huge bull named Brutal. His name says it all, it took me about twenty minutes to kill this bastard with my party of level 50s, including three deaths.) and a battle and skill system unlike anything else I've seen.

Disgaea - PS2/DS/PSP
Best strategy RPG series ever made, period. Hundreds of items, at least a hundred classes, and some of the best characters in any media. I'm not too great at this game, I admit. For me, this game is hard. Very hard. And yet I love it like I love my tea. Random dungeons, demons, angels, Midboss(I love Midboss, that sexy beast), monsters, and tons and tons of overkill moves. Just watch the trailer.

Now, some games that nobody ever played, yet should have.

Okami - PS2/Wii
Now here is a game that is original. The game looks like a ink painting, has interesting enemies and characters from Japanese mythology, stunning music, and unique system of gaining experience.
With the Wiimote(or controller, if playing the old PS2 one) you draw in the game, and what you draw happens. By scribbling a swirl, a wind comes and blows across the screen. By drawing a line through something, it cuts it with a divine sword. You can make trees, vines, manipulate fire, water, wind, electricity, blow things up, cut them down, ect. Certain enemies have weaknesses to certain techniques, but there is usually multiple ways to kill everything.
Instead of the classic "kill enemy, get xp", you only get money from kills. To get experience, or "praise", you perform good deeds for the animals and citizens that live in the world.
Helping people and solving their problems leads to good things, but in general you can skip all the sidequests if you don't feel like doing them. This game has so many secrets, its not even funny. And you need to seriously look to find them. I could go on for days about this game, so I better leave off here. This is my all-time favorite game.

Persona 3 - PS2/PSP
A strange mix of everyday-life sim and dungeon romping. During the day you hang out with friends, go to school, see a movie, whatever you want. At night you battle your way through the massive dungeon of Tartarus that randomly changes as you explore it, and collect new items and "personas", which are demons and ancient gods that you summon by shooting yourself in the head. Yeah, I know, it sounds weird as hell, but it's awesome. This game has so many possible paths, and a normal playthough takes about 110 hours, than it will take me a long freakin' time to completely finish it. I love this game.

Now I'm tired, so I'm stopping.

Threads gotten popular! I'm glad I've played some of these.

LOZ has been played, save link to the past. Lots of fun.

Okami I want to play, along with the persona series. And man, seems like there's a lot of good games!

And I have indeed, done a barrel roll. Shame on anyone who hasn't.

I suspect you've never tried doing many illegal things yet in your game. The second the CCS knows you're "active", they'll come down on you like the hammer of God.

How dare I forget to mention Nippon Ichi! Disgaea, Phantom Brave, Soul Nomad, La Pucelle Tactics, they are to turn-based stratagy games what squaresoft was to RPGs.

There is also Persona 3: FES(festival) that adds a super-hard bonus dungeon and about 30 hours more gameplay.

I have it for PS2, ordered right from Japan. I'm so far from The Answer, I really need to play more. I generally don't play when my sister is in the living room as she gets annoyed by it and her boyfriend remarked "Oh, this game. The one where emo kids shoot themselves in the head", thus showing his feeling towards it. My best-friend has exploded into it though.

I'm planning on buying Phantom Brave for the Wii when it comes out, is that a good idea?

PS:Jack Frost is so freakin' cute.

Yeah, I'm only 5 months into Persona 3 so far.

I have the PS2 version, and I can't decide if playing through again will be worth it for the extra post-game content. Great game though, definitely buy it if you haven't played the original.

Alright, sweet.
I haven't played it before, but the concept seems awesome.

It is. Great story too, though it does sometimes seem that the NPCs want you to kill them...
They think the main character is a horrible evil, bent on destroying the world... so they insult her, refuse to pays her, etc. Worse yet, she is perfectly capable of doing just that, and she is one of the weaker characters in the game(levels going to 9999 tend to do that).

I would say more, but I don't want to give away anything you don't learn in the first 10 minutes of gameplay.

I generally don't play when my sister is in the living room as she gets annoyed by it and her boyfriend remarked "Oh, this game. The one where emo kids shoot themselves in the head"
You know, technically they aren't shooting themselves. The evokers do nothing except make a loud noise, the placebo effect does the rest.

I second Supreme Commander, the game is just plain awesome. Its much more complex than other strategy games, and its also a lot more fun. You can get the gold edition for around $40.
Also, there's just something about the very first Unreal. (not tournament)
I think I still have the CD for that.
...

Here it is. Oh boy, its pretty dusty. I doubt it'll work.

LoZ: OoT
Ocarina of time was great, but It's just not the best 3d Legend of Zelda.

I know it was best at the time though.
Times change. : P

Why do you care what your sister's (apparent) ignorant jerk of a boyfriend boyfriend thinks?  You do know he probably only does that because it affects you right?  I personally got to... October something... but I just got so damn tired of the grind.  The story is interesting, but the gameplay is terribly meh.

I was just about to suggest those. I love simcity, my father got me simcity 2000 when I was 4 or 5, I remember playing for hours, it was great fun.
