Fun Fact 11: Everyone knows that you don't want to know what's in sausages. But you also don't want to know what's in chicken nuggets and so forth.

It's mechanically separated meat! That means when they've taken all the meat off the bone, they put the bone into a machine that vibrates and scours it until every last scrap of edible material is off of it. Then this pink meat slurry is mixed with lots of vegetable starch, salt, other veggies to bulk it up, and pressed into fun shapes!

Fish sticks include the possibly rotted, possibly diseased fish that cannot be sold in stores. Huge fishing ships bring the catch to a floating fish factory, where the fish are processed. Workers are told not to throw things out - throw them in the slurry machine. What is horrible enough for the outflow is snapped up by sea lions that congregate nearby, which are then eaten by sharks and whales. Sea birds are constantly dive bombing the area trying to snap up scraps. And by the time any fish has gotten to market it's several weeks to months old.
