 Next year they'll complete the stadium they are building underneath those fountains. I hear they will also build this system on the walls of their new skyscraper/bridge to support their new sky road system 50 stories up.

They build giant towers, play with water in the desert and make platforms suspended by walkways. I wouldn't be surprised if many there wore beards. I don't think many drink though.

I was just reading in Time about how apparently Dubai's economy has gone to shit what with the recession. Are they scaling back at all? (well, apparently not in this respect)

Anyway, now's the time to buy land in Dubai...what are you waiting for?!

Well why would you buy a square mile?  Buy half an acre, then sell it back when the economy is booming (Well, booming more) and they'll use it to build an elevator to the sun or something retarded.

One: Wow, that was pretty impressive. That's a nice thing to waste money on if you ask me.

Two: How is an elevator to the sun retarded? Realize right now how much bigger the Sun is than the Earth; if we could get there by elevator, we could start moving in on that prime real-estate! No less than three days after Dubai finishes the Sun Elevator, there will be a McDonalds up there. I guarantee it.

Ah yes, Dubai, the city on crack. They build the tallest building in the world and, not satisfied, immediately set out to build a taller one. And put a football stadium on top of it. And build themselves some artificial islands to stick hotels on. And then suspend the islands a thousand hundred feet in the sky in an artificial sea. Dubai is insane.
