The a set of doors (interestingly enough, neither the set they entered, nor the apparent set directly across) open and the group files out. It's a suprisingly large hospital room with about twenty beds. There is all manner of machines around. They get the injured troops into beds.

"There's a locker room over there. Feel free to use one of the white lockers for your stuff. If you particularly need anything for the armor, feel free to take anything from the grey locker. If you need bullets or firearms, black locker. Do stay out of the other ones. Especially the dark red and purple one."

[Phantom]

Phantom stares at Strife
"Is there anything you wouldn't want us to know about those lockers?"
Phantom quickly gets out of the room, changes into another GDI Combat suit, and gets back.
One soldier dies of poisoning tight after saying
"The infection... Oh god... Its spreading through the ai-"
The fireteam looks around.
One soldier sets the deceased on fire
"Go to hell. Or Heaven. Depending on what you've done. Maybe I should've looted you."

"You really think this place isn't sealed against every type of organism known to sentient life?"

Strife hauls the GDI man onto a bed and checks his vitals. He hooks him up to a blood scrubber in short order, while talking to Phantom.

"And no Phantom, there isn't anything in any of those lockers that I care particularly care if you know about. I've been keeping a full stock of supplies off of every room. However, there are things that'll mess up the STC in purple, and the Crimson one will explode in your face. Obviously, the primary security systems aren't controlled from there. Feel free to browse through the others."

The supply room, which Phantom left open, was another metal room with a blast door. There were ten white lockers that were empty. Additionally, there were eight colored lockers: Black, Grey, Purple, Crimson, Yellow, Orange, and Blue.

[Phantom]

The soldier twitches. Phantom takes of his helmet and lays it beside him. He takes the memory chip out of the helmet. And the soldiers dog tags and crucifix necklace.
"Poor loss. But our troops weren't meant to survive. They were meant to kill. He killed others and saved others. All I care is that his folks find out he's passed on."
The squad medic tends to the other wounded. And the dead. Some were sliced up. Others poisoned. Some soldiers had their eyes completely gone white. The medic saw so much death and suffering during his duty. Sometimes you can just tell from his actions.
"Death. Life. Ones permanent and ones temporary. One can't truly live forever. No one can."

Meanwhile, at he Quarantine zone...

Corpses, Wreckage, Blood, Fire, its everywhere. Soldiers engaging creatures who were once human. Its like The Thing plus Dead Space. Some even committed suicide.

Fire Team Kilo is busy holding off horrors along with Fire Team India and Delta.

[Phantom]

The men look over a war torn battlefield...
The sun just dawned...
" Sir, Fireteam Zulu, Quebec, Papa, and Romeo were lost in the battle.
3 Companies were wiped out.
1 Division was lost.
Contact was lost with one brigade.
The last thing we heard of them was their screams.
About 25,800 soldiers died.
Not all battles can be won.
Even battles in your own mind.
We estimated a loss of 15,000 enemy contacts."

Phantom turns off his helmet radio
He takes out a journal that he took from one soldier and looks through

     This is a losing battle.
My platoon was wiped out save for few of them and some other guys in the other platoon.
Some of us were in an APC.
We were stuck inside for 3 days.
2 of my men committed suicide.
One was KIA when he used the turret.
The others that weren't in our squad...
I don't know.

       We heard their screams.
They were screaming so loud we could hear them through the APCs door.
We got out.
We linked up with Fireteam Foxtrot, they took us to the old barracks.

Phantom drops it in the fire.
He looks at a pair of dog tags

Dan finishes his whiskey, tosses the bottle aside and gently puts Armok down. "Sorry, but I gotta find my squad and my lieutenant."

He picks up and puts on his helmet and goes through the portal to Sofia's hotel.

[Armok]

Goes back to sleeping besides the sign.

[Phantom]

Ghost heads back through the the ordinary Island portal.
12 GDI lead by manta head to Phantoms location.
Guardian is having a hangover.
Santorez just mugged a hobo.
Mechanic just invented a new type of battle armor.
And tank.
Fireteams still falling back and holding that hill.
7 dwarves come out of the afterlife portal chased by death.
Death seems to indicate he is tired of getting those guys almost every day.

Four Hours later...
Guardian comes into the room with Ghost, Fletcher, And Santorez.
The last 3 mentioned are bleeding and have hand cuffs on.
"What the fuck?!"
The three are able to make it near Phantom
"Oh goddamn it, I was hoping to take power non lethally..."
Guardian unloads a clip into the group.
Santorez is able to take cover, Fletcher is hit in the thigh, however Phantom and Ghost were not so lucky...
"CHRIST!"
"I can't see!"
"What the fuck happened!?"
"Goodbye, hopefully this Phase device works and you guys die of blood loss."
Guardian disappears.
Ghost is slumped over Phantom, who has taken a hit to the Jugular, and is quickly losing time left to get medical attention to Phantom. It is only a matter of minutes before he dies.
3 Troopers are gunned down.
Ghost isn't moving, he doesn't have a pulse either.
The medic checks him.
"He's dead..."
Phantom is saddened by the loss, and angered.
"God. That asshole. He killed him..."
Its been 2 minutes since the ordeal. The medic estimates about 6 minutes before Phantom dies. Thank god for extraordinary health.
((Yes. I killed someone off. That was one of the first characters I made. And he probably isn't coming back))

[Archangel]

Archangel, sensing the problem, leaps from Sofia's roof, unfolds his wings and flies for the nearest portal. He dives through and lands on top of Phantom.
"I can heal this, I just need to get the bullet out. Give me a med kit!"

((Archangel is wearing a pair of blue jeans, grey socks and black trainers. He has a long grey sword that is completely unadorned and only noticeable because it is ancient and extremely sharp. That's all he's got right now))

[Phantom]

"I'm all out. There goes 3 minutes."

Manta can be heard screaming in the portal room, due to being shot in the shins.

[Archangel]

"Oh fuck! You GDI bastards are useless!"
Archangel sticks his fingers in the wound, probes around a little and extracts the bullet. He then places a hand on the wound and starts healing. The wound soon closes.

[Phantom]

Phantom stopped moving before the procedure was complete.
In fact, he stopped doing anything.
"Ah crap he's flat lining."
