Academic Earth - indulging your inner nerd
« on: November 10, 2009, 08:29:01 am »

http://academicearth.org/

also: http://oyc.yale.edu/ and http://mitworld.mit.edu/

Perhaps your university lecturer is a terribly boring individual, making it impossible for you to stay awake during sessions?
Perhaps you can't be bothered to wake up early to attend?
Perhaps you just want to listen to interesting stuff while sipping coffe in your comfy armchair?
Or you just want to take a peek at "how they do it" in Yale or MIT?

The internets are there to deliver.

My uni also offers video colleges, but they're not opened to the public. Though you're right that some of the videos posted on the linked site might be somewhat more interesting then some of our colleges...

I used to like TED, but after a while it all seemed too dramatic and over the top about things. One cannot just say "Oh, I'm researching something cool here." It's always something about better understanding us as people in order to move forwards and better survive. Not to mention they keep letting that deprogrammer lady on repeatedly.

And I am interested in the resource this thread is about, although the videos seem to be limited to smallish fields in each category. Granted I base this on the title of the movies and I don't know what they actually cover nor how long they are, but they seem a bit short on relevant material for things I would use.

 Nevermind that.

Buck up friendo, we're all on the level here.
I would bet money Andrew has edited things retroactively, except I can't prove anything because it was edited retroactively.
