Maylene & the Sons of Disaster

Holy crap! I didn't think anyone besides me liked them!

Anyway, I've been listening to Scar Symmetry a lot recently. Sadly, my metal exposure is limited.

Try Endstille, especially Endstilles Reich.

Almost no melody whatsoever, monotone, agressive and ugly. That sounds bad, but especially the monotone gets stuck in your head and just gets this somewhat atmosphere...

Whoa. I have to give this a more thorough examination when my mind is actually awake. Thanks a lot for the link though, Dwarf.

Ironically, it is a very bad music for staying awake.

It almost descends me into a hypnotic one.

My friend introduced me to Opeth (swedish band) and I don't know what you'll think but I like them.
Here are my two favorite songs:

I HERE BY DEEM THIS THREAD REVIVED!

The following spoiler is a bit of a rant on Metallica. Feel free to skip it.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Has anyone here ever heard of a band called Fozzy? They are a Heavy Metal band that produced two albums of only covers, and in 2004 they released their first original album. I've been hooked ever since.

If you are looking to try them out search for the following songs: Born of Anger, Enemy, Daze of the Week, and Martyr no More.

I know I've brought up Manticora, but seriously.  Their two most recent albums are incredible.

Yes, yes, yes, and YES!

Why do so many people here hate DragonForce? You can't deny that they are extremely talented, especially with instrumental performance.

I find it strange how similar tastes all of the posters here have.

At the risk of being expelled from the forums, I'm going to list the metal bands that I dislike, followed by the list that I loooove. And I have a feeling there won't be too many people agreeing with me, by the sounds of things.

Contrary to most people here, I don't find much value to Metallica's music. It does have it's good points, one of the largest being the fact that it along with just a couple of other bands spawned the metal that >>I<< know and love. I find it incredibly repetitive(as riffs play too many times in a song), and the vocal style is difficult for me to listen to.

Pantera is another band I just can't listen to. The riffs are too simple and too predictable. And vocals, again, I can't handle.

Iron Maiden I have only listened to a few times, and the only thing bad I can say about them is their image. The music is good though.

Anyway, I'm not one to dwell on negatives, so on with the positives! I'm just going to make a list, and if you'd like to ask why I like a particular band, then ask away.

The Acacia Strain
After the Burial
Alexisonfire
Avenged Sevenfold (Note: I like all of their music, but Sounding the Seventh Trumpet and Waking the Fallen are faaaaaaaar superior to their newest 2 CDs. It took a lot of cringing and forcing myself to like them.)
Billy Talent (Not quite metal, but whatev's.)
Chained Existence
A Day to Remember
Dorcia
DragonForce
Emery
Enter Shikari
The Fall of Troy
The Human Abstract (Only Nocturne... Newest album is blehhh)
I Set My Friends on Fire
Invictus (amazing mix of metal and electronica... I wish this band was still around)
Iwrestledabearonce
Killswitch Engage
The Number Twelve Looks Like You
Protest the Hero
System of a Down
Thrice (The early stuff was metal)
Vanna
Within the Ruins

With Metallica, it takes all kinds. Some people like the music, others don't so much, but really, anyone who has to force themselves to admitting that they like Iron Maiden is trying to hard.

Actually they do all that stuff digitally.  They're not really that good.  That's why they suck live.

Plus, the aforementioned Manticora aside(Because they sing about Cthulhu), Power Metal is embarrassing.  I don't want to hear some guy singing in a high voice about dragons and stuff.  I want to hear someone singing about FLY
