Bizarre Recursive Artifacts

Several times, I've seen recursive Artifacts... such as a Table which is engraved with an image of itself, which is engraved with an image of itself, which is engraved with an image of itself...

But here's a new one:

My Weaver Dodok Sazirlokum was taken by a Strange Mood, and created an Artifact Cave Spider Silk Thong named... "Dodok Sazirlokum".

It menaces with spikes of utter confusion.

Well now I'm a little confused because I think you linked the wrong image.

That image says "Dodok Sazirlokum has created Dodok Sazirlokum".

... I can link an image of the Artifact, if you like, but it's nothing special. Just a fancy pair of underwear.

I've seen this before, but I'm not sure of the cause. What are Dodok's personality traits?

Isn't it obvious? During his mood, he managed to somehow split his soul in half and put one of the two pieces in the thong. So your fortress now has a sentient shoe (I hope "thong" refers to shoe anyway) that periodically screams.

I'm not sure why, but it took me a long time to see what was odd there. For anyone who still doesn't get it, the artifact has the same name as its creator. What does it mean, BTW?

At least it's not like a tiny thong, if it has coverage of 25, when regular pants are 100, it must be pretty big, actually.

Ohhh... The artifact namer named his artifact after himself, I get it now. I'm used to overlooking anything written in dwarven since its always incomprehensible to me.

I thought you meant this thong had multiple images of thongs sewed into it with encrusted gems shaped like thongs set into images of dwarves and dwarves wearing the artifact thong.

Pretty sure it's a jock-strap. Don't Shoes come in pairs? This thing is singular.

Yes, but did the creator name it after himself?

... That's the only notable thing about my Artifact. It's only worth 7600 Dwarf-bucks, after all.

Actually I'm confused about how this happened. At first I thought it was pure random chance, but in your screenshot there, "Dodok" remains untranslated, just like it would with a personal name. Normally it translates the whole thing for artifact names, doesn't it?

Does that mean it really and truly is named after him?
