I haven't - did you hit "Play Now!" after playing in fort mode for a while, and never took apart your wagon?

Yeah, wagons cannot exist in adventure mode for whatever reason. As soon as you show up on the site and move, all of the wagons explode.

If you leave and come back, all of the wagon's contents are strewn across the town and free to pick up and sell. All of the items you traded in Fortress Mode will end up in whatever town was the closest and explode across the landscape in this fashion. Also, long-termed fortresses will result in tons of merchants and donkeys standings around human towns, elf forests and other dwarf towns.

WHAT MOD???!!!

Rather than having them directly force you to mine adamantine, I would suggest that they give you strange moods that require adamantine. "Dig out the adamantine or Urist here goes insane and dies" is suitably vicious.

(It occurs to me that you can probably get "Lovecraft" as the random name of your fortress. That's when you know you're screwed.)

Do cages get opened when strewn? If so:
1.Catch fire imps
2.Trade fire imps to elves
3.Quit fortress mode
4.Visit nearest elf settlement
5.Move
6. ???
7.Profit

I don't know that the caravans actually visit sites other than your own.

No, cages are traps while wagons are creatures.

I found the contents of a scuttled wagon on the roof of a human fortress. Knowing how valuable the anvils were, I picked each of them up. Being way too heavy, I was forced to throw them over the side of the building.

If only one could have hit a peasant or something. One did manage to land on top of a tree and stay there, damn it.

I don't know that the caravans actually visit sites other than your own.

If you abandon very quickly after a caravan leaves and then start a Play Now! character, you'll be able to find them as a "-" close to your fort. So I have heard, anyway. Not sure about what happens when they hit towns.
