This is getting ridiculous...  Due to house labor and other circumstances, I haven't done squat with this.  And now it's past midnight again.

I'll finish up the ship mission, at least...  But if anyone would be willing to take this over, I think we'd be doing everyone a favor.  I'm obviously not doing a good job of it.

The remainder of the bug hunt was your standard fare of "check each and every dank and smelly corner in search of that one last cretin, and only after spending an entire turn on killing him in an elaborate fashion discover that he had a couple friends".  If you've ever played an X-COM terror mission, you know what I mean.  That last alien is always the most annoying...  Especially when he's not the last.

Things carried along just fine...  There was a slight hiccup when Devastation lost half his health and got three wounds in return after a ghost punched him in the nuts.  I hadn't seen or heard anyone attack him, he was just happily standing next to a support girder and bleeding his guts out.

He was, however, standing in some smoke when I noticed he had taken a beating...  Maybe something blew up there without my knowing, maybe the coelecanth shooting at some explosive barrels on the other side of the map caused him to bug out and take damage...  We may never know.

But whatever the case, he did see a deep one hanging around suspiciously.  Unfortunately, he noticed this by turning to look at the person who had just patched him up.  The medic was between him and the alien.  He promptly took a shot and missed wildly, hitting an elevator.  Zangi cleaned up after him, nailing the blighter with a well-placed sonic blast.

Spartan proved to be quite useful yet again, tossing explosives into those hard-to-reach places and flushing out (I.E. killing) a couple bugs before retiring to look at some rivets.

Many, many tense turns of searching later, Gang Bai discovered what I believed to be the last alien.  This was after turn 20, so I thought the aliens might start coming to me for a change.  This individual was excused, however, due to his being trapped in a room full of barrels.

Hmmm...  Barrels you say?  Well, in that case, better prime a grenade with a long fuse, plonk it down outside the door and then make a break for the stairs.

Man, you gotta love cooking those gits when they're trapped...  Makes ya feel special.

And although he turned out not to be the last one, I received word next turn that the gillman squad leader had panicked.  I then leisurely went about the business of spraying his goddamn bug-brains all over the cold, steel walls!  HAHAHAHAHA!  Take that cow-suckers!

It ended up being a very good turnover.  Throughout the course of the mission, seven civvies were killed by aliens, but we managed to safely rescue 20(!) of them, which netted us a pretty damn sizable points boost.

We'll just see how that holds up though...  We've got another terror mission (which may prove very interesting, seeing as I don't have enough ammo to restock the coelecanth, and I don't have enough time to order more), not to mention the colony.  Man, this is gonna be one very interesting month...

I'll update with a couple photos when tinypic decides to not be such a whiny little prat.

Tinypic's servers hate my guts, and they suck in general.

How are we doing on live aliens in custody again?

We've got at least one of each of the following:

Aquatoid Medic
Aquatoid Soldier
Gill Man Technician
Gill Man Squad Leader
Gill Man Soldier
Deep One Terrorist

We've also got a couple Gill Man and Aquatoid stiffs in the fridge.  The ones we haven't sold, of course.

Ooh, we oughta research those suckers.  Good stuff comes from researching live aliens.

....like what, exactly?

Researching the medic would give me info on Aquatoids (useless) and possibly some other creature (often useless), and researching the technician would give me info on gillmen (useless) and potentially the stats on one type of alien craft.

The only one I might garner some not only useful but essential information from would be the Deep One Terrorist, and he's the subject of all sorts of "fun" regarding TFTD.  He is one of the conditions for researching certain technologies that leads down the path of winning the game, but he has to be researched dead last in order for it to unlock.  If so much as a single other essential technology has not been researched yet, the game bugs out and becomes permanently unbeatable.

At the moment, I think I'd rather spend the scientist hours on new craft types, and potentially sonic oscillators.  Unless, of course, there's something you'd like to share with us...

Ah yes, the live deep one.  I made the mistake of playing TFTD without knowing the tech tree in advance, and researched a live deep one first.

I had to hex edit my way out of that one.

Spoiler: Well . . . (click to show/hide)

It makes a big difference, but this early actually researching the equipment wouldn't do us much good.  Having the option to research them available at any time could be cool though, since aliens don't seem to take too long compared to the actual tech.

Are you sure it was the gill men?  The wiki states that the Tasoth are the ones that provide access to the device itself.  And it also says that you have to interrogate a Deep One or Calcinite in order to research the lab.

Pretty sure it was the gill man.  Hm.  Maybe you really need both a deep one and aquatoid for the lab and both a tasoth and gill man for the device?  Cause I had those researched in my game before hand, but the device research wasn't available.  Mind you, why this wouldn't have been known before is beyond me.  Maybe steam has a mildly different version.

Official wiki would claim otherwise, but it's mostly irrelevant.  I just checked, and our current research project happens to be the M.C. lab.  Whatever prerequisites there might have been, we've already covered them.  Checking the UFOpedia, that seems to mean a Deep One Terrorist and a Deep One corpse.  That's all we've picked at so far.

We also have both the standard aqua-plastic and the Ion-powered armor designs worked out (apparently, this version requires the interrogation of a live lobsterman navigator before we can discover the technologies necessary for the improved Mag Ion armor.  Joy).

Devastation and Z-Chris have both been sent to the infirmary for a spell.  Devastation should make it out in six days, whereas Z-Chris will most likely be up and about sometime in May.  Why he feels the need for 29 days of hospital care, I'm not sure.

I think it was the cumulative effect of blowing a grenade up in your face and then getting caught in another explosion belowdecks.  You were healed both times, but you still get a trip to the infirmary once everything's said and done.

I have no idea what Devastation stepped in...  Might just have shot at something that was a little too close and got a facefull of his own HE round.
