Got bored so
« on: November 04, 2009, 05:46:12 pm »

I got bored so i made a livestock pen with.... Macaque! These rhesus are all tamed and are spitting child like no tomorow! after a while i got even more tired, why not train them into becoming war machine!

So once in a while i drop a poor gobby in the pen with about 20 angry rhesus poor gobby he got no chance with them all on him wrestling him breacking bone after bone.

Do you do seomthing similar and whats your WORST way ( for gobby ) to kill them?

Minecraft UI is very simple. There's only so many ways you can implement "simple" without copying something. We also gonna complain that it uses WASD?

Usually I build their cages in a seperate room next to the barracks and have the military tear them to pieces...

Soon, however, I am starting construction (after my woodcutters clearcut a large enough area. CURSED STARTING DENSE FORESTS!) of a large multilayered arena where I will be pitting my soldiers against the goblins in a true coliseum setting. I'll even put in seats!

I usually dump 20-30 into an arena for my Axe Champion to use as his morning workout.

What? The goblins attack me a lot.

The only notable thing to remember about dwarf beards is that when a pansy human and a dwarf argue over whether or not shaved chicks are better, they're probably not on the same page.

My dwarves have an inexplicable tendency to have the STRONGEST urge to go gather loose clothing or bolts (that I often forget to forbid) during attacks. I've got a coffin industry, and cousin, bidness is a' boomin'!

I've got a goblin that somehow trapped himself in a trench outside the fortress. I'm trying to decide between sending a marksdwarf (once I've got one beyond "Dabbling"), or just trying to drown it by channeling a pond into the trench.

I do this.  Unfortunately, this was the first draft and it was poorly designed.  Looks like most of the wolves didn't attack until a goblin actually stepped on the stairway leading to their den.

gobbo is always gobbo, no matter if its prisoner or invader, they deserve to die.

usually when im tired i recruit every dwarf i find during goblin siege / ambush and send them all to die... or that depends on my military and population but usually i lose :P

I have lots of things I do with them. I use them, still caged, as decoration. I toss them down the stairwell to their deaths. I'm planning on starting a goblin conservatory, later. With luck they'll breed, and I will always have goblins available.

A while ago I had a fortress that was based on a lake, to do drydocks with ships. The entrance was set up with nothing but cage traps in a freaking long hallway, and I ended up having a... surplus of prisoners after a few sieges. To say the least.

So I dug out a massive section of the mountain, complete with little houses for 'families' of goblins (Or was it orcs? I can't remember.), gave them their own little farms and tried to make it as homey as possible.

Oh, and I had a bunker set up so that my champions could go in, kill a couple, and then leave them to mourn their losses. I thought it was more cruel to keep them thinking "Well maybe we can just live here until we get released by our brothers." than to, say, set up the entire area so that the second I got bored of watching the goblins mill around I could drown them in the lake.

Invaders are perfect swimmers.  They will never drown unless there is a roof immediately over their heads.

Also, you can manufacture vomit at a smelter.  Subsequently removing the smelter spews vomit over a surprising area.

Crossbow it is, then. Well, the miners would probably have been "interrupted by goblin" anyway.

I've gotten very attached to my drowning chamber. (I've also built what I like to call the Drowning Spiral, which will probably take ten minutes to fill up and ten years to dry out, but I'm going to save that to deal with any captured legendary gobbos.)
