The Mantises are a species of insectine creatures that sleep inside a specific species of tree during the day and forage at night.

After a brief PM with Tack, I present my race, to be pushed helplessly into the waiting list until the next age advance.

The Sorith species was originally completely water bound until they developed aquatic capabilities and took to moving onto the shore. They are a thinking and soft spoken race, not prone to acts of violence or malice, having not been driven to the harsh realities of survival and war as other races due to the bounties of the saltwater seas they tend to live next to.

They tend to be solitary creatures, content to go about their own business un-bothered by others of their own kind, but do come together in pairs for the purpose of mating, or for protection in dangerous areas. Often times, a large group of Sorith will move into to a area of land and then disperse to individual territories, content to stay alone, but aware that more of their kind aren't far off if needed.

Their bipedal and lanky frames are streamlined for quick swimming abilities, allowing them to hunt for fish and other sea creatures but they are quite capable of living off of plants as well, with a certain predisposition to certain kinds of seaweed.

Their skin is a bluish-green colour to help blend in with the sea, allowing them to remain undetected by their prey and unnoticed by  larger predators.

They are not a naturally deep swimming race, instead preferring shallower warm water, but in times of hunger, they can and will chase prey to the deeper depths. It has been suggested that it was the desire for warmth that caused their first ancestors to venture onto the land, and towards the bright sun above. It has been noticed that they do have a strange solar affinity, enjoying to lounge in its rays in their off time, but careful not too dry out too much. It is a strange balance they strike.

The Sorith developed air breathing lungs to take in the air of the surface, while still retaining their gills for use underwater. As such, they do not need to surface for air like some water creatures. They are able to close off their breathing tube while submerged, preferable after exhaling so the air does cause undue buoyancy. When pushed, they will flood their lungs to go deeper, but it is a rather painful process to clear them again when done.
