I agree.  Sounds fairly appropriate, given the class (as appropriate as it can be for a Star Wars game class, anyway)

I have found the problem. I am playing this game on Windows Vista. Is there any solution to this that does not involve changing my OS?

Oh hey, that reminded me of something.  Dantooine (sp? been awhile since I played the game) is bugged, but can be fixed - Can't remember how off the top of my head, but basically it gets really laggy in the plains and one press of the arrow key can send your dude shooting off.

The solution is probably on the bug/glitch guide, here: http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/xbox/game/556553.html
I'll check in a second.

Edit:  Hm.  No luck there.  Maybe a patch released since I last played fixed the bug.  I do remember my brother needing to fix it manually.

Just searching 'KOTOR on Vista' reveals several solutions, all to different problems. Chances are it can be fixed. but you're going to need to state exactly what the problem is.

The game has an ini.txt file that can be edited.

Vista might have glitched the ini file up, and it may need manual fixing.

Just remember to back up the ini if you try anything.

In case some sort of technical wizard happens upon this, the exact problem is that at random intervals, the game will freeze up and then crash to desktop with the message "KOTOR has ceased to respond/function".

Tried compatibility?

Anyway, THIS HERE THREAD (read the first two posts) seems to have fixes for crashes as you describe them on vista, for KOTOR 1 and 2.
