Double inventory item?

I looked at one of my dwarves and saw this

I don't know how it happened, viewing the "item" only lets me see the mountain goat leather waterskin, not the racoon leather whatever. I can't even see what slot it is in.

What would be the cause for this?

The waterskin is attached to the raccoon leather dress, rather than being worn directly on the peasant's body. When equipping armored soldiers with waterskins, they'll attach them to their armor.

Wow, thats cool. But why does a peasant have a waterskin? I also designated none of my troops to bring water.

Really?  It would be under the military screen, so admittedly it would be hard to get to unless you tried.

Soldiers don't always dump everything the second you de-activate them.  I'm guessing you recruited her, then de-activated, and this is what's left over.

But... stranger things have happened.

Once I give my soldiers backpacks they never drop them once undrafted. I don't know if it's the same with water skins.
