For example, Aqizzar would have never been elected Baron had he not used his current avatar.

Also, in a more recent example, Kilikan changed his avatar, and I have been reading his posts in a different light.

It is true. The human mind is designed to characterize what it sees and make patterns and such. It will associate certain facial structures with speech patterns and behavior that it has experienced with real people.

Is this why I think 'You arse' when I see certain members?
No, it's the way they post.

Mine used to be a tunnel. I was ignored. Recently I changed it. I am still ignored. Just watch how nobody comments on this.

You know, I've never really thought about this.  Although I suppose I do tend to have a grudge against avatars that have an annoying animation (i.e.: spinning and flashing in bright colors in a poorly done way that could cause some kids to have seizures).

Alternately: The Brick Testament. It's a really fun look at what the bible would look like if interpreted literally. With Legos.
Just so I remember

That's it! I should get one of those! That way, people would notice my existance!

I notice you, your old avatar was symbolic.
You were "The approaching HFS!".

I have a habit of changing my avatar whenever my mind fixates on a different thing.
My current one is I think my longest running.

Yes, you are unobstructive to our forum gazing, so you attract little attention.  I recommend something distinctive, yet not obnoxious.  The flashing, spinning avatars do count as obnoxious.

I use to link names to the avis on an old forum I requented, this forum has taught me to not go by that lol. Actually I might end up trying a few different ones out, I've seriously forgotten how many pics I've got on my computer.

You are much more approachable now Sofia, compared to that goddamn-creepy-as-hell SJ frog phase.

I change once in awhile, unless I'm caught in a trend crossfire. Then it gets tough whether to join or not; especially if sides are involved. Hell, I almost had my clean shaven miner wear the Taokaka outfit. Fortunately, I resisted.

I don't usually associate avatars with personality, entirely; but it does give a bit of insight into a person.
