That's awesome. Little is better than some of the 'ol Ludwig Van to enhance your evening. I always wanted to go to such a concert, but never found the transportation or money when there was one. Gah, one day!

Gah, it took me a while to realize you weren't talking about fellow forumite little.

Orchestra can't die out due to videogames.

Though yeah it is hard for classical music to compete with overmanufactured music for many reasons.

Though I have to hand it to Disney

They have finally mastered mass producing Popstars

Remember when they at least required their stars have things like Talent or at least a shred of talent?

Now Disney is pumping out a new popstar each year. Most of whom cannot actually sing all that well or who don't even feature good songs.

Miley Cyrus was handed "The Climb" and she botched it. A lot of people think it is a bad song but no Miley just can't sing it all that well. Listen to a remix of it. She already reached the peak of her career so she has entered her "Shock phase" and now is trying to sex it up for popularity.

(I forgive them for the Jonas Show... They are very funny themselves, even I was surprised the show was bad)

I listen to Bach. IMHO, the rest is a little overrated. I tried to enjoy it, but I don't. So, I'm going to listen to Rammstein instead.

I do love it when people mix classical intrument playing with metal, though. I'm not so much into power chords.. good old classical finger plucking creates the best guitar riffs.

The concerts I go to are loud and smell of beer. Not a good place to go on a first date.

A lot of classical music is overrated.

Not surprising though since some of the classical music WAS basically mass produced junk that caught on.

Despite appearances Shakespear didn't write and finish all his plays within a month of eachother (in fact he may not have written some of them). It was a continuous process that involved the entire theature.

I was thinking of bringing this thread back to life. Anyway, went to a another concert a few days ago. The main piece was played was Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade. There were two other pieces, I don't remember the first one's name (Where the hell did I put that explanation sheet?), and the second was Tchaikovsky's Capriccio Italien.
So, any one been doing some concerty things lately?

I've been doing a bit of concerteering with my high school's symphonic band. I can't say that I like many modern songs better than I like playing some classical music on my Baritone Horn.

Dont forget movies. Theres alot of classical music in movies.

Also how do you go to a Beethoven Concert if he died a long time ago? I would just call it a "some guy playing Beethovens songs concert"

When he was alive most of his works were "some guy playing Beethoven's songs concerts".  It's a bit difficult to do a whole orchestra's parts on your own, after all, and the best you can do is conduct everyone else.  :P  Some accounting has to be done for the different nature of the genres, after all.

I'm talking about the bronze colossus. It's supposed to be made entirely of bronze.
But really he's just a softie inside. They all are really. When megabeasts come to your fort you never welcome them inside and give them a hug, do you. You heartless bastards...

Heh, I find Beethoven and Mozart to be a bit overrated. There's plenty of other good classical music by other composers, though I don't love them enough to actually know their names. You can tell a true classical music lover from a pretentious poseur if his top 3 composers don't consist solely of Beethoven, Mozart, and Bach.

I could never really get into classical music, though. Tickets are waaaay overpriced, because you're catering to a rich, pretentious market, who can't tell the difference between a recorder and a clarinet. They're people who get ripped off because it's a way of showing off their money.

Nope, it was him alright. He was in good shape too, just a bit boney. If you would've seen him, you could barely tell he's over two hundred years old, he looks like he's in his mid fifties or something.

So he looks exactly like most of the crowd.
