position stones underneath a drawn up bridge. hit lever, bridge annihilates stones.

Requires agonizing years of hauling. 15 years and the peasants haven't cleared my 6-level underground city yet (though I admittedly only have a few, and they keep dying on me).

dwarf manager: turn off all jobs except hauling. Then see what happens.

In the Grim Darkness of the Far Future, There are Only Stones...

Sorry, that was actually pretty nerdy and uncalled for.

By my calculations, you could train about 126 dorfs up to accomplished in masonry, mechanics or stonecrafting. Since this would leave them with 9500 experience, a fey/secretive mood would max them out at legendary +5. Or you could train up just over 40 all the way by brute force.

If you're at the point where you're modding the game to deal with the stone anyway, give the dwarves [SPEED:0] in the creature_standard raw.  Give everyone hauling, clear out the stone.  Save, remove [SPEED:0], continue with your life.

Also, you can manufacture vomit at a smelter.  Subsequently removing the smelter spews vomit over a surprising area.

set all dwarves to hauling and add the [SPEED:0]  token to your dwarves, I think it will dynamically affect your dwarves without a regen, but I am not sure.

Personally, I give all junk (non-economic) stone the tag [REACTION_CLASS:JUNK], and add the following reaction:

[REACTION:CONJURE_SEEDS]
[NAME:conjure seeds]
[SMELTER]
[REAGENT:1:REACTION_CLASS:JUNK]
[PRODUCT:100:1:SEEDS:NO_SUBTYPE:MUSHROOM_HELMET_PLUMP:NO_MATGLOSS]

Plump Helmet Spawn gets eaten up pretty quickly, and dedicating a smelter to violating thermodynamics keeps my forts pretty clean. However, you DO need to turn on any stone you want made into chairs, as well as having your seed management under control. If you've got large stockpiles that accept plump helmet spawn, you'll have quite a mess on your hands. Tossing a few satchels of 100 seeds into magma usually alleviates the issue. Just make sure they're not masterpiece bags.
