Though this will hit 2000 dollars soon, the actual money raised in a donatothon is secondary to just getting people to donate.

It is going to take a long time to see the true effect of this donatothon.

I'm well aware that the actual dollar amount is relatively meaningless, so long as Toady doesn't actually find himself in debt or something.  But I believe having concrete, quantifiable goalposts encourages effort.

Once the total clears $2000, then the next goal will be $2500 for an average month's total.  It just keeps going.

The only reason I don't like this idea is mostly because the negative of this idea is unfair.

We all donated and I wasn't implaying that my donation was somehow "better", I just said that I took the opportunity to be "the last drop"

Congratulations! I'd donate, but considering my extra money comes from babysitting, I'd like to figure out a better way to aquire some extra income first. xD

I'd draw for people who donate, but then again, you already have so many! I'd rather draw on comission and donate that.
