Well, thats why you just gotta be careful in hardcore. I always play a bit more conservative on HC. Even without lag, just one little mistake = death. But also with a full party of people the lag wont hurt as bad as you might think, as other people are there to bail you out.

HC is very rewarding too, nearly dying but JUST making it out in time, beating a super tough boss and all that fun jazz is much better feeling knowing that you never died, ever. Its quite amazing.
