I'm not saying that you shouldn't get them boots, just saying that Happy Apples are pretty good at luck boosting, giving you around 20 luck per apple. Truth be told, those boots are the best thing to wish for, but the happy apple beats getting all three luck feats per bite. (Of course, the only one that I know of can be obtained after giving a person about five potions of cure corruption, but that is a spoiler for another day.)

I identify one of the spellbooks we received as a reward earlier. Nerve eye is a good spell, though i'm going to wait until i have a higher literacy skill before i try to learn something from the only charge it has.

This has never happened to me before. The game gave me a good mutation in a dream, only to directly after give me a dream that REMOVES said mutation.

Fuck this, i'm going to go for an early level gamebreaker, a very powerful artifact Long Sword. Considering what the game is doing to me i feel perfectly justified to do this. I'll explain how to get it below, as it is spoilery.

After doing stuff mentioned below, i nab two quests and head off to Yowyn.



This is the reward for one of the quests, as i failed to produce a screenshot of the other one. Unfortunately, the weight from these rewards combined with our speed-reducing mutation gives us the same average speed as an incontinent snail.



So i proceed to dump off stuff at our home, and then head off to Vernis to sleep.



Yeah, fuck you too.

The game just cursed our main weapon, which means we can't equip something else until we uncurse it. So we can't equip that artifact sword we're going to get soon.

To get the artifact sword you need to collect small medals, which can be found in towns and other important places. These medals can be traded in with a certain person for very useful stuff, including above-mentioned sword.

Anyhow did this character start off with Negotiation? If not then it gets priority!

As a suggestion, always check what a fellow Hero has in his inventory. If it causes bleeding or some other effect that can kill them then stick around! Great way to get great loot!

Nothing bad that has happened so far is new to me (except for the mutation instant gain+loss), it just has never done that to me all at once.

I've decided to stop playing this game. I was finally got the hang of it after dieing hundreds of times and having to create new characters because my Karma went too low.

Until I took a normal save my poisoned father mission and ran into a low level ambush. Now, the person I was escorting was a Nurse and there was only one enemy, a thief.

You can probably see where this is going...

I couldn't kill the thief because as soon as I hit him the nurse would spam heal him back to full health. I lost over 50000 gold to this thief before finally being killed by a creature that I summoned to help me.

I go to check out the magic shop and lo and behold, the got scrolls of uncurse! Normally i need to run between towns for months before they got uncurse scrolls for me to buy when things like these arises. No cure mutation potions though.

We then run into another adventurer! Remember that you aren't the only dungeon delver in North Tyris, you will occasionally run into other spelunkers, which you can trade items with, or hire them for a week (this is costly), or ask them to join you (if your fame is high enough).



She has a nice cloak which i trade for one of my half-read spellbooks of magic arrow. We got two more of those anyway.



This cloak maintains three of our attribute scores, which means that they cannot be reduced via special attacks from monsters. More awesomesauce.

To upgrade Jack Bread's measly little gun.

I press onwards toward Port Kapul for more spoilers. However...



Jack Bread drinks from a well, and luck decides to puke in our face yet again. This is not good. Jack Bread now has an alien in her stomach, and if we don't kill it soon, it will kill HER, and then proceed to attack us. We can remove it by forcing her to drink poison.



The Magic Shop doesn't have poison, but it DOES have dye, which have the same effects as poison when drunk. Unfortunately, after investing in a shotgun for Jack we can't afford it. There's no good quests in Kapul either so...



I decide to travel to Derphy in case there are better quests there, and on the way, a random event decides to give us the money required to buy the dye! I quickly make a beeline back to Port Kapul, since Derphy doesn't have a magic vendor, and chances are that they wouldn't have any poison/dye if they did.





Phew. Crisis averted. The poison will wear off in a short while, Jack'll be fine.



Since it's heavy rain i proceed to head to the shelter and end this update.
