I'm more interested in the collective noun for a group of dwarves. I vote for binge.

It's a knot of dwarves.

Here's how I say it

Dwarfs:  Verb. That building dwarfs the surrounding ones.  Kinda like "dwarfed"
Dwarves:  Noun.  Plural of Dwarf

Handy reference, but in the spirit of the thread, could we have a knot of dwarves and a binge of dorfs?

I also tend to go for elfs in the DF context, for the same reason.  No sense imbuing them with all that Tolkien baggage.
Tolkien did not make that one up; the plural of "elf" has always been "elves".

Yes the meaning of the word "elves" has changed from a generally ugly large eared pixie, to a overly paid actor with fake pointy ears.
Not to be confused with how "dwarfs" gained the offshoot "dwarves" to separate people of diminished stature and fantacy oriented people of diminished stature.

I call them dorfs, though I'll also use it singular as dorf.

Mostly I only do that when I'm feeling obtuse or dropping into lol speak to emphasise a statement, though.

Dwarves and dwarfs, for me, depends on what's cannon for the world... D&D vs. Warhammer Vs. Warcraft.

Tolkien did not make that one up; the plural of "elf" has always been "elves".
Also of note:  DF started out being based on a sort "Moria sim" idea - it actually makes perfect sense to say dwarves, especially considering that dwarfs is a somewhat derogatory term for people with dwarfism.

Alternately: The Brick Testament. It's a really fun look at what the bible would look like if interpreted literally. With Legos.

Wouldn't a Tantrum be a flock of Dwarves?

Dwarf-Dwarves-Dwarven =Most preferable for cases of fantasy dwarves. Awesome short guys with axes who enjoy war and mining.
Dwarf-Dwarfs-Dwarfish  =Another term for midgets, least derogatory way to refer to such people (I mean really, would you rather be a Dwarf, a Midget, or a Little Person?) Also a verb.
Dorfs-Dorfy =Comical dwarves, informal and generally involving crazy dorfy mishaps.

I would probably insist on being called a hobbit.
