The more mysterious links....

But then!

The main one!  Looking at the mods already there, I can imagine it only a matter of time before some of the many industrious/drunken dwarves here wrangle up a Dwarf Fortress one so as to not let Hexen/Heretic stand unopposed as cameo heroes...

Free, editor/map makers dealies, still being developed, and some community stuff afoot.  I can't believe I just now came across this considering all it offers up.

Cool stuff. I remember a friend of mine had a copy of Hero Quest the boardgame but this looks more like Advanced Hero Quest. It's a pity spells don't work yet but it's not the only fantasy game I know without magic implemented. The only real problem I have with it is that I get weird graphics artefacts, in bands across the screen, as I play.

I'd love to see a DF flavoured mod for this. Instead of dungeons have it as dwarves slaughtering whole elven retreats. I have no idea how easy it is to mod though.

It's funny that you mention vassal as just yesterday I found myself reading about vassal40k, basically 40k battles through the net. Having not played any 40k I was interested but apparently GW, somewhat understandably, shut them down.

I'd say shoot the folks a message on that graphical issue---after this long at it on their end surely such a thing would've came up and some fixes or workarounds in mind.

Considering how many user made packs are there, amid several different people, I'd reckon usability falls on some good metric between good-nifty.

Maybe try that isometric version, and an apparently still somehow wonky top down on from those earlier links as well and see how they fare?  Definitely a bigger download by far for the Iso one for SOME reason...
